I had the same problem today. Although my service engine light has been on for a while now, the reduced engine power light has never been on. I plan to take it into the repair shop tomorrow.

You need to find a shop with a Tech 2 scanner. The pcm has to be recalibrated because when the fan clutch goes bad it back feeds into the computer and stores a hard code. And because the 02 is the first year for this style envoy its a pos! And these A**Holes from GM thought it was a good idea to have a electronic throttle body and gas peddle.

So in a nutshell it needs to have a PCM.AZ UPDATE AND YOUR DONE! SELL IT AND BUY SOMETHING YOU CAN FIX IN YOUR BACKYARD ON THE WEEKEND!

I have the same problem on my GMC Envoy. After Replacing the fuel system and the Fan clutch and it's still happened, I found out that the thermostat is sticking and need to be replaced.

Unhappy GMC Customer.

What is best diagnostic scanner for 2002 Envoy with ses and reduced engine power lights on?

We have discussed this yesterday--- I believe

You need professional help, not keep asking questions

Only a professional scan tool & checking factory info, to
(learn) about your vehicles Reduced Power issue, will get
to finding a problem

I told you to use the internet, to try & find & learn about it

I may have also told you to stop using it until resolved

What type of diagnostic scanner is best for 2002 Envoy with SES and Reduced Engine Power lights on?

You need to road test with professional scan tool
& have a shop look up what causes reduced power
fault, on your vehicle

I wouldn't use it,get is diagnosed

Don't need codes present to work on a problem

The answer is most likely already on the internet, if
you make proper use of it with google

Engine reduced power

Reduced power can be a multitude of things. Find out what code is present by using a scanner. The cruise control WILL NOT work if the check engine light is on. Once the check engine light is cleared, the cruise control will work again.

2003 gmc envoy cold start

If you live in a very cold region of the world like I do and own a GMC Envoy you will know these vehicles are awful in cold temperatures (-30C and colder). Every winter the vehicle refuses to start, the reduced engine power light turns on and a GMC mechanic gives me a bs excuse for why its not starting. The simple answer is that this vehicle is awful in the cold. When this happens and hopefully it happens at home, I have to get my forced air kerosene heater out,put it under the engine bay of the Envoy, open the hood and tent it with a tarp and let the engine "thaw-out" for about 2 hours, you can also put the vehicle in a heated garage but that takes about 8 hours to thaw that way. There is NO OTHER way to fix this problem. I emailed GM about the problem and their only response was to ask for the VIN number and the name of the 'GM certified' mechanic I was taking the vehicle to. All a load of bs from GM....they know this is a problem and won't do anything to help fix it. My next vehicle will not be a GM while I live in the North
