I have a 2000 Saturn LS2 and the battery light came on the other day, then when I was driving home from work I lost all of the dashboard lights and the gauges would not operate. I brought the car home and turned it off, when I turned it back on it still had the problem and would not shift once I lifted the window control I regained the power and was able to drive the car into the garage. The car drove the next day but on the 2nd day when my daughter tried to start it, it wouldn't start now there is completely no pwoer to the car. I just replaced the alternator within the last 8 months and the battery is new also.

None of the brake lights work , the center high mount lights too ! I can't believe both tail lamp assembly's going bad at the same time ! Wrench light on means codes are stored in the BCM , did your Mechanic check codes .
Does the window move at all? If so, then it may have come off the track inside the door. Otherwise the window motor may be going bad. You will need to remove the door panel to investigate.
the light is across one diode in the rectifier pack in the alternator, usually there are 9 of them, one of yours has failed, probably the failed diode is leaking current and draining the battery. In this instance the battery will be good (if drained) and the other 8 diodes will show a good charge.Get the current drain checked with everything switched off
the alternator has a circuit in it that illuminates the battery light on the dash.that circuit is most likely at fault but because the battery went dead once i would think your alternator is just about at the end of it's useful life.
its easy, remove the ipc bezel, like 2 screws and pull it out the youll see a few smalle bolts holding the cluster in take them out and there u go its out, find the burnt one before you take it out,,,
