While the car is running, disconnect Positive terminal of battery, if car continues running, alternator is good, you should replace battery,if it dies alternator is bad. Hope this helps

Car sat for 18 months, the battery died so i replaced it, after this the radio didn't work (maybe when i replaced it i shorted something out?) it ran for a while, but when it was driven at night the airbag...

All of these are signs of a dying battery, because it's not recharged by the alternator.
Test the alternator this way: jump the battery from a running car and start your engine; rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and disconnect the jumpers; test the voltage - on a working alternator it should read 14 to 14.5 volts; if it shows 12 volts or less then the alternator is totally dead.

I would check ignition items or fuel delivery if it just died on you. It wont be the battery unless it was dead and the alternator stop working.

My 2003 PT cruiser dies at a stop sign and then it won't start

You may need a new battery (alternator will keep it running once jumped but if you stop, the idle may not keep the car powered long enough). If you've never replaced the battery, its about time - they have a life of about 5 years.

Dies and has trouble starting.
