Change water pump

Instructions
    • Raise the hood of the KIA and locate the battery. Disconnect the positive and negative cables.
    • 2Drain all of the coolant from the radiator and engine assembly. If you do not do this it will result in a large mess when you disconnect the hoses and the pump.
    • 3
    • Use a screwdriver to remove the mounting screws from the lower splash shield. Remove the shield from the vehicle. Disconnect both the air duct and fan by removing the screws which hold them in place.
    • 4Use a socket wrench to remove the tension bolt which is fixed to the alternator. This is the bolt that attaches the alternator to its bracket. Once the bracket is disconnect you will be able to slide the belt off the alternator. Remove the mounting bolt on the bottom of the alternator. Lift the alternator clear of the assembly. If you are struggling to move it on your own, have help on hand to aid in the lifting process.
    • 5Remove the coolant reservoir and radiator hoses from the engine assembly. On most Sportage models the coolant reservoir will have no mounting bolts and can be removed manually. You should be able to simply remove the hoses from the vehicle by pulling them with your hand.
    • 6Use a wrench to remove the tensioner bolts which fix the water pump in place. Lift the damaged pump out of the KIA.
    • 7Insert the new pump in the same place from which you removed the old one. Remove the old gasket and replace it with a new one at the contact point of the water pump. Fix the new part in place with the mounting bolts to a torque of 19 lbs. Place the reservoir coolant and radiator hoses back into the engine assembly by pressing them in to their connectors.
    • 8Attach the alternator to its bracket by fixing the mounting bolts in to the bottom. Attach the belt to the alternator and fix it in place with the tension bolt. Place the splash shield back on the vehicle and insert the coolant back in to the radiator. Reattach the battery terminals and turn on the engine to check that the water pump is now working correctly. Keep an eye out for leaks.

2003 Mitsubishi Galant Idler Belt Tensioner Replacement

I also need help knowing how to replace the belt tensioner pulley. It looks like you can't get out the bolt because the pulley is real close to the frame, unless the bolt has nuts on both ends, but it doesn't look like it.

Havin problems wiv my vw golf startin in mornin keeps turnin over but wont start but does wen i put jump leads on but battery seems to have powwer plus wen i put full steerin lock wen car stood still it...

Hi

the battery is weak although it may have power to turn the engine over it is not enough to make it start, it will need changing. the other fault is common with loosing revs while turning full lock. this is often a loose power steering belt or power steering rack or pump starting to fail. to be honest though they seem to last forever like this and there are a number of wheel related faults such as bottom suspension arms, ball joints and bushes that can also make the car do this as the steering is extended beyond where it's maximum capacity is.

Hope this helps

Step by step to replace water pump on a 1995 chevrolet camro.

Water Pump - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
CAUTION When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
3.4L ENGINE
(see Figures 1 and 2)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
  3. Remove the air intake duct.
  4. Remove the top coil of the ignition coil pack.
  5. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt/screw.
  6. Disconnect the heater hose from the water pump.
  7. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts/screws.
  8. Unfasten the power steering bracket bolts/screws.
  9. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
  10. Remove the water pump pulley.
  11. Remove the power steering pump bracket and swing the bracket and pump aside. Do NOT disconnect the power steering lines from the pump.
  12. Unfasten the water pump and engine front cover bolts/screws, then remove the water pump assembly from the vehicle.
  13. Remove and discard the gasket and thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces.

Steerin wheel is hard of my ford tempo car . i

Hi:
If you have power steering, first check to see if you have fluid in the power steering reservoir. If you don't have power steering, you most likely have binding in the rack and pinion unit, and that has to be replaced as an assembly, and is a bit pricey, so check your fluid first.

If the fluid is full the power steering pump could be bad, but usually they growl, and are noticeable.

Water pump removal (cant get power steering pump out)

To access and remove the waterpump, the powersteer bracket has to be removed completely. To do this, the rear camshaft drive pulley must be removed (need a tool to hold pulley, bolt tight) and then the thin sheetmetal shield behind the pulley. This allows access to the lower powersteer bracket bolts.
Removal of the engine mount is also required to perform timing belt replacement. It also helps to increase your access room too.
I would recommend you replace the waterpump why you are there as they have a tendancy to fail at around 140000 km's.
