To engage or disengage low range, the vehicle speed must be less than 5 kph (3 mph) , the brake depressed, and the transmission must be in NEUTRAL. If that doesn't work, you'll need to check the electrical connections and vacuum lines.
See that this is an old problem. Some of the knobs could crack on the backside and allow the knob to rotate on the shaft without turning the shaft at all. If the knob is okay then go underneath the vehicle and disconnect the electric plug on the shift solenoid and Inspect for corrosion on the terminals. There is a problem which can happen if an indicator light burns out in the electric shift models. The length of the shift solenoid plunger is what determines whether you are in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive, or high or low range. If the indicator light burns out, it changes the electric power and position of the shift solenoid plunger.
I can think of several things to check. low on oil, oil thinned out ,change oil, oil filter blocked , oil filter relief valve stuck open, oil pressure switch faulty. Best to remove oil pressure switch and fit a oil pressure gauge to get a true reading. If OK just replace the switch.
i have a problem with my navigator ..it just started ..went im driving it the inside of my lights flicker off and on and when i park it and turn off the key ..the inside light stays on and outside on the foot rail stays on on just the driver side ..and so i have to remove the battery cable so it wont drain my battery ..can you please tell me what could be wrong with it ..
2 different electrical circut's that are unrelated. Ac on a 12 year old truck is bound to need some service. Take it to a trusted shop that is not hurting for work & ask them if anything is disconnected, ie: compressor power wire, high pressure switch...ect. Tell tale sign system is low on freon is the compressor keeps cycling on & off with a clicking sound or compressor does not come on at all.
I don't know how much oil you had to put in but it sounds like you have maybe more than opne issue and both sound major. One is engine reving and speed not picking up sounds like trans problem. Two the engine shaking and making noise and being run low on oil leans toward possible engine damage. If your mechanicly inclined check all fluids and when checking trans fluid smell it. If it smells burnt the trans has been damaged. Check oil pressure and make sure coolant is full. You may have to take it into the shop.
this is common on these trucks just put your witch in 2 wheel and go ahead and drive it will let loos when it sees the correct secquence and drive a little and shift to netural.
just neve do it from high to low range
