Yes this very well could be the issue. The fuse you might want to check is in the fuse panel inside the vehicle. You need to open the drivers side door and the fuse panel is on the side of the dash (there is a picture below of the location. Also there is a picture below of the fuse layout. The fuse that you want to check is the one marked "CIG" in the diagram. I hope this helps and good luck.

The manual shows the location of the electrical output. the obvious cigareete lighter is near the radio center console.. the electrical output is on passenger's side ... that was my problem.
Yes, it's probably the fuse. The fuse is in the center of the fuse panel on the end of the dash. If you need an owners manual, you can download one here:

i checked and the fuse is not blown, so now what
Hi, first I should ask which lighter socket you are referring to. There is an axillary outlet that runs on the APO fuse in the upper right corner of the fuse box. If it's not that, please read on.
I recommend you check for power at the fuse using a 12 volt test light by removing the fuse, connecting your test light clip to a bare metal spot on the frame of the dash, and probing both terminals where the fuse plugs in. One side should be hot. If not, check the batt fuses in the box under the hood. If the fuse is hot, the problem is either the wiring or the lighter socket itself. Use your test light to probe the center terminal inside the lighter socket. If that terminal is hot, the problem is likely a bad ground wire from the socket to the frame of the dash. If it isn't hot, the wire from the lighter to the fuse box is loose or broken.
