SOURCE: abs light on

Did some research and found that the module that connects to the ABS pump (next to battery) to be the problem. ISUZU wanted $3,200.00 to fix it. Bought one off of a wreck for $146.99 (LOL, yep, $146.99). Removed battery, disconnected the large cable going to the ABS, unclipped the 3 brake line clips on the top of the fender so the ABS pump could be removed and swapped the electronic modules- did not have to penetrate the brake lines at all. Took me 20 minutes. Restarted Trooper and ABS light went out.

Abs and traction control dash lites come on and off at various time..sometimes never come on

Your abs and traction control lights should only come on when you start to slide while breaking(ABS), and when your wheels spin in place when excelerating(TC). If those 2 things don't happen, which with some people they never do, you should never see the lights come on. Only when those mechanisms are in use do the lights come on. And they will always flicker as that is what abs and tc are, intermitant surges to break up the constant. ABS does this for obvious reasons...anti lock break, so when you slide, the abs "taps" the breaks in short bursts so they don't lock up. TC "taps" the exclelrator when it slips. Those "taps" are what trigger the lights on your dash, which is why they flicker and don't stay on.

Any quick fix to get the abs and TC light to go off on a H2 Hummer

Unfortunately the cluster that displays the lights is not serviceable. Meaning you can't pop the cluster and remove the bulbs. Removing fuses or relays for your TC and ABS system will disable them, but the lights will stay lit.

ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYS ON

ABS = Anti-lock Brake System.
TC = Traction Control System (Engine Control Module).
If the ABS lights on the dashboard permanently the ABS system is faulty. You must access the ABS & TC Electronic Control Units (ECU) memory for pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car. Then you will be full informed about bad pieces (e.g.: front right wheel abs sensor interrupted, ...). After bad pieces replacement you will be able to erase all faults memored by ABS ECU, in other words reset the ABS system and turn off the warning lamp on dashboard.

I suspect bad brake pedal switch, but you should scan the ABS & TC ECU's.

THE TC light had a wrench beside it? And the TC light says the TC is off and the ABS light is now lit up. I tried pushing the button to turn the TC on and Off but this makes no difference

chances are there is a problem in the abs system, which also controls the traction control. have the car scanned for codes, which will give you a starting point for diagnosing. good luck!

I have 2003 land rover discovery and the abs light just cam on. also a ct light came on... whats the problem? plz help

Ok, you either have an expensive problem, or a very cheap one. And it all depends upon the number of lights on the dash.
If you have ABS and TC showing, then you may just have a diff-lock switch fault (and an intermittent H shaped amber light also which is the diff-lock indicator). This is a software issue with the SLABS ECU and is showing that due to diff-lock the ABS and TC are in a lower response setting. Later trucks don't have this problem (03 model year onwards) as the software was updated. The diff lock switch is about £12, and it's a bugger of a job. It can be done from underneath the vehicle (did mine this way) or from the cabin, and the switch is p/no PRC2911, and just unscrews. It's located just behind the diff-lock stud above where the front prop fits.
Your options are thus:
1) Remove the front prop. Work blind and try and change it by feel alone. Helps if you can clean the area off before too, don't want any rubbish falling in the box! Unplug & Undo the switch, IIRC it's a 12mm head, and a stubby spanner is the tool for the job. Remove, swap the lower nut from the old switch to the new one (important for the length) and put back in. Don't do up too tight, or it may shear off (as my friend did 2 days after I did mine! He kept tightening it...) Pop the connections on and the front prop and the fault should go away. You could also just disconnect the switch if you want. IIRC open circuit is no-diff lock anyway, but if that's not correct then make up a link with some spade connectors and link it out then.
2) Remove the centre console, drill the rivets and attack from above. Same tools needed, just you can see what you're doing.
I favoured Option 1. YMMV!

If however you have ABS, TC and Hill Descent (little picture of a truck going downhill) then you sadly have an ABS issue which suggests either Wheel Bearing, ABS Sensor Fault, or Shuttle valve. Best to get it to a dealer and on the computer for them to diagnose what exactly is wrong.

My downhill descent light along with tc and abs are on my disc 2

Hi no you can`t access the ABS unit with a MT 2500 snap-on machine you need dedicated software to get in to the ABS system on the Modis, the fault is usually as follows ,If you carefully take the centre console apart near the gearlever you will find the hill desent wiring is broken there are 2 wires that catch on the bottom of the linkage, when you have repaired them (make sure ignition off from start to finish of repair) If the wires are too short solder 2 same gauge extender wires in with heat shrink to protect them and then re-route the wires away from the linkage ,BE carefully as there are AIRBAG wires near there, the ABS lamp should go out when the repair is done if not you need to take it to a Landrover expert to diagnose further.
