Air conditioner I can only get my air conditioner to blow hot air even though it is full of freon. It feels like there is constantly hot air coming from the vents. It is a 1997 Bonneville SSE. What could the problem be?

I have the exact same problem & car. Just filled with freon today & the ac lines are cold under the hood, but warm air blows inside the car. Please help.

I have the same problem with my '97 SSEi. I beleive it to be the air blend door not working. I can pinch off the heater hose coming in and I have excellent cold air. I also do not have hot air in the winter. Just luke warm. I wish there was an easy way to get to the blend door lever.

In my particular case, the air conditioning freon system is working perfectly. I have had it checked. The blend door is stationary and will not move. I need a way to get to this if there is one.

Replace the air conditioner relay, its located underneath the hood, you will see the relay center there, look underneath the cap to identify which is the ac relay switch.

the a/c system could be low on freon but not to low so as the compressor stops working this can cause your problem.you don`t say if the compressor cycles constantly as this is another indicator the system is low.

Air conditioner blowing hot air on 2002 monte carlo and it has freon in it

car air conditioner blowing hot air is cause by either a leak or a clogged condenser, since it has a freon in it then it might be a case of clogged condenser but this is just a contributing factor, it is possible that the leak is small that you wont even notice that the freon is not enough for the a/c to blow cold air.

2003 Tiburon air conditioner won't blow cold air

Most likely your problem is the same as mine, which means you have a crack in your air compressor therefore no matter how full you fill the freon it will always drain (or blow) right out. Solution - get a new air compressor. Try to find one in a chop shop junk yard type place if you can do it yourself.

Alternate problem - freon can lose its charge. You can take it to just about any auto store and get the freon charged up for about $70. If that doesn't fix the problem it is likely the compressor.

Why does the air compressor still run with the air conditioner on even though there is no freon in the system? It cuts off normally when the system is turned off, but starts up again when turned back on. I...

Why are you running the a/c with no freon. The compressor will run even if you have no freon because it has no way of knowing there is no freon sensor in any vehicle i know of.
