Does the fuse blow before or after you step on the brake? If it blows only after you step on the brake, and voltage from stop lamp switch only goes to rear brakes and not through multifunction switch. If only one connector at the rear for brake lamps, take connector loose, step on the brake, if the fuse still blows, the problem is before the connector. You could Use new wire from brake switch feed, when brake switch is activated, to the rear brakes. Leave pigtail at both ends, splice in new wire, You could let new wire just lay on the ground, for testing, from brake switch to rear brakes. If the brakes work and doesn't blow the fuse, Make the new wire permanent and route the wire properly. Just my opinion. I don't have wiring diagram for your model year.
Check the coolant level, low coolant can cause this. The other thing is the heater controls. Generally not the dash but the controls behind the dash that blend the hot and cold. The blend door might be stuck, broken or loose. You can usually see the controls under the dash behind the glove box
If the blower is blowing air just fine, but you cannot control the temperature, you need to listen to air coming from the vents while turning the temperature from hot to cold. If you do n ot hear any change in airflow, then you may a temperature door in the dash broken. this is becoming a common problem on the Equinox
It sounds like you have a blend air door stuck. This is in the housing of the heater a/c blower unit under the passenger side of the dash. There is a motor on the top of the housing that could possibly be stuck or on working.
At the bottom of the switch under the dash is a "button" that you push and this will release the knob and shaft from the switch itself. After the knob/shaft is removed, simply unscrew the switch from the dash and unplug the pigtail from the switch. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Do yourself and your Mustang convertible a favor. Have the top professionally installed. The bows are position sensitive and require adjustment so the top fabric is stretched just right. I had a 66 drop top that needed just fabric and I still paid a pro to do it.
To verify you have hot water going into the heater core, remove the two hoses for the heater from your engine and see if you have water running through the core. There is a possibility that your heater core is plugged. If that is ok, then your next best thing is to check your cables running to the heater to verify it is not broken. Lastly, check the heater switch to blower motor resistor on the front of the heater box. It may be broken.
