My car is heating up but only when I am driving at 40 or 45, if I keep driving under 35 it does not heat up. What could be wrong?

  • Anonymous Jun 28, 2011

Coolant fans on all the time , thermostat, engine coolant sensor is bad

Testimonial: "His advice was really good, the radiator was bad and had to get it replaced. "

  • Anonymous Jun 28, 2011

    The fan is working.
I have changed the Thermostat and did the coolant flush.

"Engine Coolant sensor is bad" do you mean, car is not heating up but the sensor is bad?

  • Randy Ohler Jun 28, 2011

If your fans are coming on then the sensor is working. You said you did acoolant flush. Did you just replace the coolant? Some time s the radiator needs cleaned . this takes removing all thee coolant put in water and add a radiator flush compound that cleans the system. you have to drive on it for a few days, read the instructions. To check the radiator you can pull the top and bottom hoses off the engine and run a garden hose to it. turn it on about half to three quarters on. the water should run out the bottom as fast as you put it in. It shouldn't back up threw the top hose. if it does, the the radiator is getting clogged up. don't have it professionally cleaned , it wont make it. trust me. Just get a new one, shop and tell everyone the cheapest price, they will try to beat it. If the radiator checks out, then go to the water pump.. Dodge/Mitsubishi Are good pumps, but I have replaced a few that the impellars are worn out or they are spinning on the shaft.

2oo2 land rover discovery over heating after about 20 minutes of driving .. But it will not over heat when it's parked idling it can stay on for hours with out over heating...what the problem ???

Check your water pump, could be bad seals causing the coolant not to recirculate while driving and causing it to over heat, also could be a bad thermostat. Here's a link on replacing your water pump,is your fluid low in your over flow container,if so,look under to see if it's at the water pump. 2000 Chrysler 300 M overheating every couple days

Some of those models the fans turn off at a set speed . (35 mph or so) If the radiator is not in perfect condition the car can over heat. Just not enough cooling ability in the radiator.

My car keeps over heating I have replaced the thermostat and radiator hoses what else could there be that keeps it over heating?

If it overheats on the freeway or constantly moving over 35 mph, it will more likley be the radiator blocked upped.

If it overheats only in slow moving traffic, it will likley be a thermo fan issue.

If it overheats all the time and is losing coolant it could be a blown head gasket.

My chevy venture 2003 only over heats when it is still with the engine on but it does not over heat when i drive it, what could it be?

Odds are your electric cooling fan[s] isn't coming on. This fan should only run when the a/c is on or when the engine temperature has reached about 218 degrees. Once the a/c is off or the engine temp drops to about 210 degrees it shuts back off again. It rarely comes on at speeds over about 35 mph because at that speed enough air is forced through the radiator to keep the engine at about 198 degrees. I would start by looking for a blown 30 amp fuse under the hood. There may be two of them marked "Cooling fan 1" and "Cooling fan 2" or something similar. If the fuses are good you could have a faulty cooling fan motor that just isn't running. Hope this helps a bit!

My 2004 Chrysler Sebring blows our cool air only when idling AND driving in town. On the interstate it blows out hot air. Sometimes it will blow out warm air in town if I'm going 35 or 40 mph. Its a tad...

When the engine temp looks normal on the gauge but you get no heat inside unless your keeping the RPMs up by driving it,It usually means the fluid in the radiator is very low.wait until it is cooled completely and remove the radiator cap and fill completely,Check resovour and fill to correct level,

Wat happens if ur power stearing gear box is going

It isn't the power steering box. You have some worn or broken components in your front end. I would only drive it to a garage to get it onto a lift.

Over heating

Check water pump or bad radiator there is a circulation problem. As a last resort check and make sure its not a bad head-gasket check oil for antifreeze look under oil filer cap for cream-ish white residue. Good Luck
