Airbag light came on..did this come from a impact

No, that is very unlikely, it takes 3 G's of force to trigger the bags, that is a force you would remember and it would damage the car.

{: ) It is possible, but not always the case. An airbag light on your instrument cluster may mean several things. Usually under normal conditions, an airbag light on warns the driver that the airbag system has detected a fault somewhere in the airbag circuits and need to be checked or fixed, otherwise the airbag protection system may not work properly in the event of collision. It can be wiring or component malfunctions.
Sometimes it can be a deployed component like the seat belt retractors or an SDM, which you may not notice. Your vehicle needs to be checked by a diagnostic scan tool for trouble codes. This way, you can easily determine the status of your airbag system.
If your vehicle did have an impact before that you're not aware of, and no attempts were made to have it repaired despite previous airbag light warnings, well, you can always expect the airbag light to come on.

SOURCE: airbag light has come on no impact

There is a problem in the ABS circuit and will have to be taken to an actual GM dealership.

Is driver airbag still functional when passenger airbag light is on in a 2010 Chevy malibu?

Hello Collette,

(Owner Manual Page 2-68)
The passenger sensing system turns off the right front
passenger frontal airbag and seat-mounted side
impact airbag under certain conditions. The driver
airbags and the roof-rail airbags are not affected by the
passenger sensing system.
The passenger sensing system works with sensors that
are part of the right front passenger seat. The sensors
are designed to detect the presence of a properly-seated
occupant and determine if the right front passenger
frontal airbag and seat-mounted side impact airbag
should be enabled (may inflate) or not.

I'm not sure if a purse or other light weight objects would activate the passenger airbag but if your display is showing random passenger activation it would be best to have a qualified dealer check into it...better safe than sorry.

Why i my airbag light on

NO may be the clock spring in your steering wheel is broken or the impact sensor in the front is defective but don't worry it will not open when your driven.

What is the cause of the air bag light being on

When the airbag light, or SRS, light comes on it means that the airbag controller has detected a problem with something in the airbag system and has disabled the airbags. Usually this is due to a problem with and impact sensor on the vehicle. You'll need to take it to a shop and have it diagnosed and you should do so quickly because as long as that light is on, your airbags WILL NOT DEPLOY! Good luck.

Front impact crash & airbag did not diploy

Airbags have specific criteria for deployment that determines whether impact was severe enough to deploy bags or whether only 1 stage deployment is needed or may decide impact was minor enough that deployment of airbags could potentially be more dangerous than the actual impact. For instance I was on the expressway last year going 65mph and someone rear ended me at over 100mph. Totaled my Ford Focus, her airbag did not deploy. Over certain speeds depending on the vehicle calibration, and airbag should never deploy. With an impact under a designated speed or over a designated speed a deployment can be dangerous. As long as your airbag light was not on before the crash I'd say your system was working properly and did not malfunction. If your airbag light ever comes on just keep in mind that any airbag malfunction will disable the system and turn on the light

I was hit from behind by another car; and the air bags did not infralte. the problem is that the air ba light came on and the passenger set belt airbag indicator is always off. Toyota Camry 2004 Model

The airbags are meant to inflate only on frontal impact as that is when the driver and passenger tend to bend forward and can get injured. When hit from the back the driver and other tend to sink into the seats, so there is no chance of hitting the steering or dashboard. Why the passenger's airbag light came on or whatever may be some electrical fault as a result of the impact. That should be rectified to ensure proper functioning of the seat belt and the airbags and not raise a false alarm.

My airbag indicator light stays on continuously on my 2008 Mercury Milan.

You need to fix this soon. First, I would try for free help, as I noticed your Milan is a 2008 model and it may be under Warranty (You get 3 or 4 Years) depending on mileage.

The Airbag Indicator light can mean several things. The Impact sensors behind the Bumpers can have a bad connection, the Chemical charge in the Airbag can be bad, or there is a bad connection somewhere inbetween.

Once its diagnosed, some parts like the Impact sensors can be sprayed with WD-40 and they will work again. Other parts like the firing mechanism for the Airbag is best left to experienced people.

Since anything is possible the Airbag may not work when you need it. Again, this may be a free repair if you take it to a Dealer.

I totalled my 1999 chevy s-10 and the airbag in the steering wheel didnt go off and i was wondering how to look and see if it was disabled

Do you want to know if the airbag was disabled or if the sensors were disabled? But basically, if the impact was from the side or rear, the airbag won't deploy. If the impact was from the front and went over the front bumper, again, the airbag wouldn't deploy.
