Hi I wondering what would be causing my abs light and brake light to be on all the time , They only would stay on after I washed my car for a while then go off , but now the are staying on , my brakes are still working good.

the ABS light resets itself every time the key is turned off and on, it is self testing and will only turn the light on when there is a problem in the ABS system, worn out brakes don't cause the ABS to come on, if the light is on the system has a fault present and it must be tested with a factory system scanner to determine the source of the fault or at least the area that is causing the problem, that can be one of the four wheeel speed sensors, a defective ABS hydraulic control unit and sop on.

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the car

Have you checked your brake fluid? It may be low or an indication that the brake pads are worn, causing the light to stay on.

Just a idea. If the car is running at idle and the oil light blinks , it usually from low oil pressure. At a idle your seeing the light respond to the revolutions of the engine. ! thing to try is to replace the oil pressure switch on the engine block. And #2, Most causes in a VW is that the vehicle overheated at one time and weekend the oil pump,or massive amount of miles.

At 45000 miles we had this problem. After replacing hubs, and abs sensors the problem was traced to a frayed wire at the firewall that was going to ground an the ac tubing.

Hi, You should check for a sligt break fluid leak from the break light switch (attacked to the master cylinder). Yeah, I know this seems strange, but on my 2001 this leak caused all types of problems with lots of dashboard indicators. The leaking switch was a recall for Ford Trucks, but not the minivans.
