ECM 2005 Buick rendezvous replacement

Do you know that a replacement ECM would need programming ? Dealer .An it's a PCM - powertrain control module ,because transmission an engine modules are inside the same box (module) .Service of the PCM should normally consist of either replacement of the PCM or EEPROM programming. If the diagnostic procedures call for PCM replacement, inspect the PCM first to see if the PCM is the correct part. If the PCM is faulty, remove the PCM and install the new service PCM.
The new service PCM will not be programmed. You must program the new PCM. DTC P0602 indicates the EEPROM is not programmed or has malfunctioned.
There are no user serviceable parts in this PCM. The PCM should never be opened for any reason.
Important: When replacing the production PCM with a service PCM (controller), it is important to transfer the broadcast code and production PCM number to the service PCM label. Do not record this information on the PCM cover. Transfer allows positive identification of PCM parts throughout the service life of the vehicle.

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
Remove the left sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement - Left Side in Body Front End.
Remove the air cleaner assembly cover and lift the PCM from the assembly.
Disconnect the harness connectors from the PCM.
Remove the PCM from the engine compartment.

Where the ecm/pcm located on a chevy avalanche 2002

The pcm is just under the battery on the left side of the engine compartment. The PCM need to be calibrated to the truck and motor. If you just put it in the motor may not start. Read over the information I have attached before you do this. Ken Powertrain Control Module Replacement Service of the powertrain control module (PCM) should consist of either replacement of the PCM or electrically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM) programming. If diagnostic procedures call for the PCM to be replaced, the replacement PCM should be checked to ensure that the correct part is being used. If the correct part is being used, remove the faulty PCM and install the new service PCM.
Important: To prevent internal PCM damage, the ignition must be OFF when disconnecting or reconnecting power to the PCM. For example, when working with a battery cable, PCM pigtail, PCM fuse, or jumper cables. • Remove any debris from the PCM connector surfaces before servicing the PCM. Inspect the PCM module connector gaskets when diagnosing or replacing the PCM. Ensure that the gaskets are installed correctly. The gaskets prevent contaminant intrusion into the PCM. • The replacement PCM must be programmed.

Removal Procedure

Important: It is necessary to record the remaining engine oil life. If the replacement module is not programed with the remaining engine oil life, the engine oil life will default to 100%. If the replacement module is not programmed with the remaining engine oil life, the engine oil will need to be changed at 5000 km (3,000 mi) from the last engine oil change.
  1. Using a scan tool, retrieve the percentage of remaining engine oil. Record the remaining engine oil life.

How do i change the Electronic Computer Module (ECM) in a 1996 pontiac 2.2 automatic sunfire

I would get a second opinion , there not the brightest people . Take it to a ASE certified repair shop or dealer . Does your vehicle start an run ? If the brain box was bad it probably would not .
Powertrain Control Module/EEPROM Replacement/Programming

Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Notice: In order to prevent internal damage to the PCM, the ignition must be OFF when disconnecting or reconnecting the PCM connector.
Service of the PCM should normally consist of either replacement of the PCM, EEPROM re-programming or a KS module change.
If the diagnostic procedures call for the PCM to be replaced, the PCM should be checked first to see if it is the correct part. If it is, remove the KS module from the faulty PCM and install it in the new service PCM. The service PCM will not contain a KS module. DTC P0601 indicates the EEPROM programming has malfunctioned. When DTC P0601 is obtained, re-program the EEPROM. If a DTC P0325 is set, check the KS module for proper installation. If it is installed correctly and DTC P0325 is still displayed, replace the KS module.
The ignition should be OFF for at least 10 seconds before disconnecting power to the PCM so the IAC valve has time to move to the engine OFF position.
