Headlight problem with my 2000 Corvette. Sometimes when I start the car both headlights pop up and turn on and the switch will not turn them off. I have to turn the engine off and turn the light swith on and back off again to close them. Sometimes this will work the first time and I start the engine and the lights do not come on. However, sometimes I have to repeat the proceedure three or four times. Anyone know a fix?

Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuits ?
When the headlamp switch is turned to the HEAD position, battery voltage is applied to the headlamp opening door actuator control module through CKT 103. The LH head lamp door opens when battery voltage is applied to the LH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 576 and ground is applied to CKT 577. The RH headlamp door opens when battery voltage is applied to the RH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 578 and ground is applied to CKT 579. When the headlamp switch is moved to the OFF position, battery voltage is applied to the headlamp opening door actuator control module through CKT 306. The LH headlamp door closes when battery voltage is applied to the LH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 577 and ground is applied to CKT 576. The RH headlamp door closes when battery voltage is applied to the RH headlamp opening door assembly through CKT 579 and ground is applied to CKT 578. Battery voltage is constantly applied to the headlamp opening door actuator control module from the HDLP MOT L MiniFuse® #4 (CKT 2940) and from the HDLP MOT R, MiniFuse #3 (CKT 3040). The headlamp opening door actuator control module is grounded by CKT 150 through Splice Pack #100 to G102.

Check to see if there is a headlight relay and check all ground circuits to the lighting system. They are both powered from the same circuit.

C5 corvette problems

You have major wiring problems or bad switches. I would replace the headlight switch before testing for any thing else. if it's the switch you got lucky, if not, it will be a lot of wire testing.

CORVETT POP UP LIGHTS Hi I have a 1977 corvett stingray. Do you have any ideas as to get the vacume system on the pop up lights to work correctly. They sometimes will go up, 1 at a time but very

The first thing , this system works on vacuum there are vacuum lines that run from intake to storage can or cans then to light switch inside car then back out to headlights,

i would first start by starting the car and listen for vacuum leaks, you may want to follow the vacuum line form the motor checking for splits or cracks in the lines, listen around can, this can sometimes rusts and leaks vacuum, this can or cans are intended to store vacuum and use it when needed, if they are leaking then the lights will work slow until there is enough vacuum to open them, this goes the same for a bad vacuum line and light switch, the light switch is a two part switch, one part supplies power to lights and the other part is vacuum to open lights.

you will need to listen for a vacuum leak inside the car at the switch, (headlight switch) .

Make sure all lines are good and have no leaks, you will need to make sure the hinges to lights are free and not binding up.

98 corvette headlights not working

If you can verify current going out of the main dash switch towards the headlamps, then I would go relay hunting. My guess is the switch, since the brights and fog lamps work on demand (dimmer switch pulled).

1978 corvette when i shut the car off my head lights pop up. i can start the car and they go down and stay down. got any ideas

Those are vacuum actuated headlights and the vacuum leaks down when the engine is off. Probably have a leak in the headlight actuators, will need to replace or rebuild one or both of them, not a big problem for them to pop up some people just do not like for them to pop up while parked.

Headlights wont work properly

Sounds like you have a problem in your headlight switch. As far as them staying on sometimes when you shut the car off are you referring to daytime running lamps or the regular headlights? If it's daytime running lamps that like to stay on and your headlights do not like to turn on then there could be a combination of headlight switch and daytime running lamp relay.

It is possible the relay gets the signal from the headlight switch as well, since they generally turn off when you turn your headlights on.

Removing the whole pop head lights assembly from my 1997 corvette

Raise the headlights, either with the switch or manually by turning the knob on the headlight motor counter-clockwise.
Unplug the lights NOW to avoid an accidental closing on your fingers,
Remove the 3 philips screws holding the black plastic surrounding the headlights, and slide it forward, there is a small clip on the top that helps hold it to a corresponding clip at the top of the headlight,
Look inside the cavity and you can see the 5 nuts/bolts ( 6 on later years ) that need to be removed,
If you are on the driver's side you can now remove the whole assembly, on the passenger's side you must first unplug the headlight door control module.

Only one of my lights comes up when I start up my 2000 Corvette.

sounds like you need to replace the relay for that headlight door, also make sure all the connectors are clean and tight, check for water intrusion
