Check the main fuse box next to the battery, # 8 max fuse powers IGN MAIN 2 Ignition
Switch to Fuses (I/P): BCM PRGRM, FRT HVAC LOW/MED BLWR, FRT WPR/WSHR,
HVAC/DRL, MALL/RADIO/DIC, PWR QRT VENT, RR HVAC, RR WPR/WSHR, SWC ACCY
& PWR WDO Circuit Breaker.
#3 circuit breaker is the front window breaker, try swapping it out with another breaker beside it and thats located in the side dash panel also.
The common cause of failed power window function is the switch on the doors going bad from dirt. Does the power window on the passenger side go down with the passenger side switch?? if it does then its a bad drivers side and and try cleaning the switch with electrical contact cleaner. 95% of the time this will save you from buying a new switch.
Window fuse's and relay's may be up under driver or passenger side dash or behind glove box, under the hood and even under the seats, and finally on the ends of the dash. All passenger power windows and locks are controlled thru and get power from the master control switch on the drivers door.
Drivers door window gets used the most so it could be the motor, window switch, relay or fuse. Could also be a broken wire in the rubber boot going from the door to the body. You will have to eliminate each till you find the culprit. Check that all switches return to neutral when released. The motor and the relay are the most likely to cause this problem. Try swapping the relay with a working window relay. If it still doesn't work, remove the door panel and remove the window motor. Turn the motor shaft in both directions by hand several turns. Then plug the motor in and see if the switch will now run the motor. Sometimes that's all it takes to get it working again. I have had to do this with brand new motors. If voltage is not present at the motor connector, either a bad switch or a broken wire exists. Make sure to check for voltage coming to that windows switch. Actually, GM use's a circuit breaker type relay for each window and one fuse for all the circuit breakers.
check for a blown fuse in the fuse center on passenger side end of dash. open passenger door and you should see a cover marked fuses and there should be sticker on the back of the cover telling you what fuse to check or check your owners manual.
No more fuses,General Motors had alot fo problems with power window motors I personally have replaced hundreds of these in all there models over the years.Sometimes if you tap on the motor with the door panel off while depressing the switch the motor will move again for a while but it will need to be replaced. Just make sure you have switching voltage and ground at the motor connector with the switch depressed.Good luck
try checking the switch that controls the up and down, I just had the opposite problem with my 2003 venture the window would not roll down, the garage put in a new switch for the part was about 75 dollars. it took about an hour to fix.
you need to check battery supply most important. if the battery low voltage, cause no start. if the battery ok & strong energy. maybe the drive away protection control if this is the problem you need to bring to BMW dealer to replace control & ENCODE the control unit using SSS.
Solution to your problem ...
1- I purchased from 1aauto.com a pair of Circuit Boards for my Chevy Venture 2003 for 85.00 $ ..free shipping
2 - I Installed them both , all lights now were not working at all. So I checked them and they were all burned ...So I purchased new ones ....Everything was working fine now but now my signal lights were not working left and right .....Checked the fuse box next to the passenger side door .... It was burned .
Changed the fuse / Signals are working fine now ....All is good
I just did this yesterday evening August 12, 2008
Conclusion ..Change everything going forward so you do not need to run around like I did from one store to another!
