Hi.
first thing, whan you turn the keys to step 2 in ignition, the warning lights are supposed to come on, so you can see that the lights are actually working. they then go out when the engine is running.
as long as they go out when the engine is running, then they are not a problem.
if the battery has only been going flat since the service in Fords, then take it back, and complain.
ask them exactly what was done, and keep complaining until they do something.
if they have caused a drain on the battery, then it is up to them to fix it.

Thanks alot, the lights do go out when the car is running, could this just be a dodgy battery though as the car is 4 or so years old but with mot and full service surely the battery and alternator would have been checked, is a battery drain the most likely cause as ive read alot about these. im no mechanic and dont have a clue. thanks for your help anyway
hi.
if the warning lights are ok, then it is quite possible that the battery is faulty.
i am not sure if the alternator and battery would be checked on a service. it would depend on the garage.
they are certainly NOT checked as part of the mot.
most garages offer FREE battery and alterator checks if you just drive in and ask them. should take less than 10 minutes. it would be worth doing this before doing anything else.
a battery drain would not normally "just happen". it would normally be caused by new electrical equipment being fitted, or something simillar.
a faulty battery can happen at any time, without anything else causing it.
have the battery and alternator checked first.

U.S. or Europe Focus?
As Paul said, the battery could have a shorted cell, or you could have a drain overnight due to something drawing it down. The quick test is to see if the battery reads between 12 & 12 1/2 volts with the engine off. If it reads that on shut down and below 9.6 volts after overnight, you have a residual draw.
You could disconnec thte battery cable overnight to see if it works ok after you hook it back up. However, you will lose all your memories in teh radio, computers etc.
it sounds like the charging system is ok.
