A very common issue is the main relay not working correctly when the weather gets hot. Check to make sure that the main relay is functioning correctly

There are many vehicles that have issues such as this. A high percentage of them are due to a faulty camshaft position sensor. Locate the sensor and cool it down when you experience your problem then see if your car starts. You can use compressed air or freeze spray. Some people have said they used a bottle of cold water, I am skeptical on this though try at your own risk. Good luck!

Mickey Mouse Trap? Troublshooting a sensor is a unique process. If you do not know how to troubleshoot may I suggest a mechanic. If you would like to foolow my advice I believe you will be pleasantly surprised. Blowing freeze srpay on a hot electronic component is a very common and TECHNICAL way to troubleshoot. I am not some shmuck giving you dumb advice to make a measly 4$, i am trying to help you.

When it is hot, if the starter will not turn the engine over, or the starter is not turning at all, replace the starter as it is failing due to the heat.

If the car is cutting off when it heats up, and not starting again until it has cooled down, this means the ECU, or a sensor is failing under the heat.

When the car doesn't start, or when it is hot, check for a spark. If there is no spark, your ECU (computer) or Crankshaft Position Sensor are faulty/failing under the heat.

  • Anonymous Jun 22, 2011

I said Crankshaft Position Sensor, please read more carefully. You have a Crankshaft Position Sensor.

  • Anonymous Jun 22, 2011

Thanks for the rude comment, I will still help you anyways. You have a 1996 Nissan Sentra, 1.6l DOHC 4-Cylinder Engine. Here is your CKP, or Crankshaft Position Sensor:http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1...

1982 nissan sentra 5 speedwill not shift into reverse all other gears work how do i fix?

You have to take the transaxle off and take it apart, I know that much about it. There would be a button or spring or pin, something like that, that has broke or come loose. A Haynes manual might show procedures to work on the transmission. That's an old Sentra, first year they were made. Good thing about Nissan was that lots of different models and years had interchangeable parts. Like your '82 transaxle might very well be same one as in '82-86 model year Sentras. I owned a 1987 Sentra couple of years back, so I did a lot of research on them. Several websites can locate used car parts nationwide. One such is Car-Part.com. Just go there and type in your car information and description of what you are looking for, and zippo, usually many responses will show up.

Once my sentra has warmed up it won't start on the first try but will start on the second

Nissan has a lot of problems with their fuel pumps. If you have it replaced, it will fix the problem, they actually have a kit for most models they use to repair the problem. While they have had a lot of problems with the fuel pump causing hard starting, etc., not enough to make it a recall item and therefore typically is not covered under warranty.

How to improve the performance of a ga 13 engine of a nissan sentra?

Let me tell you that I'm also working on that. :-)..
A nissan ga13ds, since it is carbureted, then it is limited on the amount of modifications that are of good value for money, since some of the top end modifications may cost you the price of a brand new nissan sentra + modifications.
Here are some things I did and are planning: -Replace the stock fuel filter assembly to a high performance one. (ex. to a High flow air filter, cold air intake, short ram intake, etc.) -switch to an electrical fuel pump. -upgrade exhaust system. (performance headers, high flow catalytic converter, larger exhaust pipes, racing mufflers. -upgrade to a better radiator (aluminum) + stronger and better fans. (a cooler engine runs a bit faster) -Install an oil cooler again for the same reason of better cooling. -(just my idea) Buy a performance carburetor. (this may be too costly because you might have have an intake manifold custom built) -Replace engine internals to race internals for better performance under High RPM. -Find or custom build racing camshafts to replace your stock. (this will result to better performance at high RPM levels but will not be efficient running the car in a lower RPM range).
You can also improve the performance of the car itself by doing the following: -Saving weight: -Aluminum wheels -carbon fiber/fiberglass/aluminum hood and trunk. -and any other stuff not necessary to you can be removed to save more weight.

I hope these ideas help.
