Hi! I have a PT Cruiser 2006. The car stood still for 5 weeks and when I was trying to start it, a light it the dashboard kept on flashing (electric sign). When I turn the key the starter cranks but it just won't turn over the engine. Please help! Thx.

Can you hear a relay clicking when you turn the key over to "Start"? if not then a faulty relay could be the reason the starter motor is not cranking over. Is the starter solenoid "clicking in" but the engine not turning over? if so , can you turn the engine over by hand?

Possibly the ignition switch. I had weird issues happiness with mine like that. I took it to the dealer and they quickly determined that the electrical part of the ignition switch had failed. They told me that thus is not uncommon in pt cruisers. They replaced it and all was well in the world.

Change your dashboard light switch/dimmer. It either has a bad connection, or is faulty altogether.

I just had the same problem happening with my 2006 PT Touring. Took it to the dealership. The issue was the electric parts of the ignition switch. They replaced it and all is well in the world again.

CHECK FOR A SHORT IN THE SWITCHES IN THE CONSEL ON THE FLOOR AT THE BACK, SOMEONE STOOD ON MINE AND BUST THEM SO THE WINDOWS WOULDNT WORK TILL I REPLACED THEM, IT MAY BE THE FRONT SWITCH

Not all replacement parts are good. I would guess that the new ignition switch is bad. Its also possible that the wiring harness is loose where its connected to the ignition switch. You could try jiggling the wires.
