99 legacy outback 47000 miles

"hesation when first starting out then clears up" when cold or after shuting of for 1/2 hour, new plugs, gass treatment, different gass stations no check engin lights or codes local garrage coulden find anything ovious

My Subaru Legacy will shudder and shake first thing in the morning after sitting all night (this has only started to happen). It may take and start or just lose all power and stop. Once it has been running it starts fine every other time during the day. Could it be that the fuel pump or the starting solenoid?

i had this when acclerating starting from low rpm's. replaced the gas filler assembly and walla, had a minor leak which caused a low fuel pressure, who knew!

the speedometer/odometer problem sounds like the vehicle speed sensor, which is ususally found on your front wheels, the stalling out sounds like an unrelated problem, but i couldnt tell you where to start for that one

My 1997 Subaru Outback Legacy Limited started jerking when in Drive- between first and 2nd gears. I then started driving in 2nd / 3rd, then drive. When in traffic very long time, would not engage at all...

Sounds like the transmission has reached the end of service life. I have a 93 that did the same thing. It would drive until the transmission heated up then nothing, except for reverse. I had a TRW rebuild transmission installed and now my 93 Legacy has 500,000 miles. $2,200 to repair vs $25,000 to replace. The only thing you would miss is the new car smell for a few weeks. But you can keep $20,000 plus.

I have a 99 subaru legacy outback trans slip

cheak your fluid level in your transmission as if it is low it wont go into gear properly you will move it from park or neutral to a gear it can take a while before it will kick into gear if you top up the fluid that should fix the problem if it still does it after this take it to a tranmission specalist and have it serviced as the bands may be streched

Subaru Legacy 98' Outback Legacy won't start when hot

I have the same car - same problem. Too hot or too cold and then just another once and while for good measure :(
I've had the battery checked and is good. Is it likely to be the starter?
