If you are not going to repair the AC then you can purchase a bypass pulley for the AC compressor. They are about $25 from rockauto.com. The pulley will go in place of the compressor. This is for the 3.3 engine.

now you are a professional! Please spread the word to others. Often times the cost to repair an AC system is more than the value of the car; There are many other car owners who need to know that they can keep their car on the road without going broke.

How long is a bypass serpentine belt for a 2001 Dodge Caravan 3.3L ?

There was no 2001 Caravans built with 3.3 motor without A/C, so no belt will be listed , there might be a belt that fits , but not always. You could try unplugging the compressor clutch , depending on whats seized you may have to put a new clutch bearing in, but that should be around $20, then just let it freewheel.

Neither. TGhe seprentine belt drives the engine's water pump. If you are lcuky, repalce tghe defective idler pully on tensioning ar,m, install new belt and pray!

Battery light came on. steering wheel tight ( locked up). there is enough power steering fluid in the car.

Loose, excessively worn, or missing fan belt. Make sure nothing in the loop has seized (everything should turn fairly easily by hand).

Remember: Just because it's there and looks OK doesn't mean it is. Belts can break the cord inside leaving you with what amounts to a big rubber band that has no capacity for transferring mechanical power to the alternator and pump

What would cause AC unit new belt to break? We are trying to fix our AC unit in our 1997 Dodge Caravan by putting a new belt on. We thought we had it fix but a day or two later the belt was gone.

Check the belt alingment. Something could be in the belts pathway that is shredding your belt. Also check your compressor to make sure it is turning when the compressor clutch is engaged. If the clutch is engaging and the comprseeor is locking up it will burn the belt or snap it right off. Also check your tensioner pully and make sure it is free spinning.

1999 dodge caravan

There is a tension pully located under the alternator. It has a bolt head in the middle of it. Place a long box end wrench on it and pull it towards you. The tensioner will move forward. first put the belt on the pullies properly. (see diagram placed at left side of the hood release). Then leave the belt off the pully that is located just under the motor mount. Pull back on the wrench that is placed on the tensioner as you at the same time place the belt onto the pully under the motor mount. Done. Remember that the tentioner may need to be replaced also. It might be a good idea to do that since that is the usual reason the belts jump off. Just a couple bolts with that and done. It is not expensive.
