Seems I'm having the same problem as a lot of others. Changed the battery and lost the radio! I can't find the radio code (silly me) so pushed the m button and got the serial number but my local dealer says it's not right??? The number starts with SN then is followed by 8 digits.... Have a done something wrong? Where do you suggest I go to from here? Thank you

2002 bmw x5 3.0, changed-out battery & lost audio on radio (factory stock ).visual display ok.

You need to have the anti-theft code put in to make the radio work, this happens when the battery power is lost. Call the dealer or go to www.radio-codes.com

What does these cods means, U0073 U0101

XL-7 (dash 7?)
"engine not starting" sure... but that is step 2, not 1.
but you failed to say does it crank robustly
yes./no?
if NO, those silly dash messages are a waste of time.

ever herd of jumper cable starts, or calling AAA and asking the man do jump start your dead battery?
are headlights dim?
charge your dead battery with a charger?
or replace it with borrowed charged battery?
or if dischanged, and you charge it and it starts now, does the alternator work> and give you, 13.3v to 15v battery voltage
no? then dont drive too far or this will strand you. as battery dies again,

is the battery good, 12.6vdc rested and 11v min, cranking?
if the battery gets too weak, it cranks too slow and voltage falls too much and the ECU/PCM/BCM (brains) will fail and dump lots of codes.
one code is low battery.
the FSM book covers all code, buy one or look at alldata.com?

0101 =

Car radio decoding

This sound silly, but look in the glovebox for a sticker with the code on it. Or in the manuals that came with the vehicle. It's a 5 digit number usually.

How do i fix codes u0141, u1110, u110e on '09 jeep wrangler?

so is car driving perfectly? (other shoe drops)??????
just dash errors, ONLY?

i have a 08 and FULL FSM.
(book and CD)
first off each failure , needs further testing, that is what a ASE tech went to school for 3 years to learn.
here is the list.
1000 codes, I have them in a folder, (extracted with great pain)
141 lost comms with TIPM
1110, lost vehicle speed message.
110e lost ambient temp , message.

the prime DTC error here is 141, lost comes.
once comms are lost there will be lots of related DTC errors.
now to fix that , you need to go to the dealer,
his scan tool an delve deeper here.
Luck happens?
one trick, is to disconnect battery , unplug the TIPM , 5min more more.
then put battery back but (neg battery lug) but this will brick the radio and NAV options, lost radio codes,
we a pro does is get (all this is in the FSM if you read it)
and gets the radio codes and nav codes first.
on a new car its in the glove box, if lost all this is a Royal PITA.

so did you lose your codes.? the card?
my 08 has the cheap radio, with no codes. but the other 4 opted radios do... so....

my jeep has 11 computers, all 11 talk back and forth
some talk all the time to the master. (BCM , PCM and TIPM?)
(CAN-BUS 101) And any master (can be 2 masters) if any fails to here others talking and was expected, it sets a COMM error.

Lost security code for MG rover radio in LDV which asked after replacement of battery. It's serial number is vdcd3242004350

These codes are stored on the factory data base computer system, we do not have access to that, only the dealer does in most cases. There is one site that may have it for a fee of about $10.00 USD called www.radio-code.com

Hi! i changed the battery of the car, when i did it i lost the code of the radio and now i don't know the code... if u can please help? the car is audi a6 2001 1.8

When the battery was removed the codes are reset and so it will be best to check your manual or the dealership database as this is easily available with them.
If not check if the following link gives some tips:

Just changed battery on my freelander but haven't got the code for the radio can you help please

Hi,

We may be able to help with this but need more information. Each radio has its own individual security code. There is no blanket code that covers Freelanders for example.

You will need to supply the serial number and part number of the radio itself so we can identify what radio you have. This will involve removing the radio from the dash to find the serial number which is on a label at the back or stamped into the metal casing of the radio itself.

Post this information up and we can advise from there.

Many thanks for using FixYa.

Changed my battery.

This may sound silly but place the actual key in the drivers door and cycle locked and unlock this should reset the security system.

I changed the battery on my 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, and I lost the radio code. MR472956, SN: 06144243 D

The code should be written down in your vehicle's owner's manual.Other than that, call the dealer with the serial numbers off your radio.
