You do not get an clicking sounds from your starter at all when you turn the key ? You might have to replace the starter because they do go bad on you. I just had the same problem myself and had to replace the starter so fun job for me because I had to get underneath my Daewoo car to even get to the starter and replace it.

Once a new key is programmed, will an old key still work in a 2005 Chevy Malibu?

Not sure about Chevy's, but when my husband lost his keys for his Ford, he got a new key programmed, and when he found his "lost" key, it still worked. Try it. Don't think it will hurt it if it doesn't work, but check with a dealer.

My malkbu classic won't start. The guy at the grage says its a key sensor. I believe I had this replaced around 2 years ago. Did I miss a recall, or how do I get info regarding a recall?

call the chevy dealership, and ask them if there has been any recalls in the past for your malibu. good-day! or if no good response, ask for the chevy recall center!

Mail.comhave a 2005 chevy malibu, lost the keys so i got a new key, trying the keylearn procedure and its not accepting the new key, any ideas i have talked to many peoiple they all say im doing it right,...

You must turn the key forward 2 clicks until right before it would normally start. Leave like this for ten minutes. (No less) Roll the key back to regular position wait 5 seconds and repeat process. This must be done 3x in a row without starting in between. Whole process should take 30 minutes. After last ten minutes, roll back, count to five, then try to start your car. If this doesn't work, there is a way to bypass the system and never need that special transponder key again. This link explains. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

2005 chevy malibu classic.... theft warning light coming on and not allowing car to start..... best solution?

Let the car sit undisturbed for 10 - 15 minutes, then try to start it. Check the owners manual if you have it. Sometimes, on various cars letting them sit awhile will allow the system to reset itself. On others sometimes rapidly turning the key from off to on, without turning to start 3 to 8 times within 10 seconds and then on the last turn to the on position leave it there until the horn chirps, at that point turn the key directly to start, or turn off first and turn to start. If all this fails, a GM dealer can reset the system.

My 2005 Chevy Malibu smells like gas while it's running and after it is turned off. There doesn't seem to be any gas leaking from it as I don't ever see any on the ground. Any idea what could...

Gas leaks are serious. If it was in the evap system the engine light would be on. So you need to check or have checked the entire system. From the top of the fuel tank, the lines under the vehicle up to the engine(mostly steel) At the engine they turn to rubber or hard plastic. Also check the fuekl rail and injectors. There are two Orings per injector. And check the fuel regulator. I lost my van to a gas leak that ignited from a faulty spark plug wire.

My 2005 chevy malibu classic will not start i have everything checked out also my theft system light is on constantly

all gm vehicles from 97-2005 have a theft system called the passlock system. (how to deactivate system on chevy malibu) turn key on engine off, let it stay on for at least 10 minutes, then turn ignition off, take out key from ignition switch. after 1 minute start the car. you can also go to tubesound.com to disable system for good. --tubesound.com/passlocksystem. ( just type in the problem when page comes up ). have a good day!! vehicle will not start with system blinking. it thinks its being stolen.
