I have a 1999 gmc sierra with (as of 30 days ago cat. converter, fuel pump and filter, cap and rotor) changed in garage. regular oil changes, tune ups as of 8 mths. it has lots of cranking power, but won't start. Turns over great but still won't start. 153,000kms, 5 speed overall i do not abuse, owned it since 2001. It did sit for 2 winters.

If i understand you right the truck has been sitting for two years. If it has been sitting that long without running or moving the gas has turned to varnish...I suggest that you drain and refill the fuel tank, and replace the fuel filter located on/in the frame rail on drivers side.

Is the vehicle running rougher since the tune up and such ? Is it worse since fuel filter change ? Was there any change good or bad since the work was done ? Is the fuel line leaking gas ? Do you remeber what code AutoZone came up with ? I'm just trying to get all the correct information so I can give you the best guess as far as what your problem could be. Also what size engine do you have ? Reply/comment here or you can email me directly at [email protected]. I don't mind helping if I can and there is no cost but as I said need as much info as I can.

hello,
You have a bad oil pressure switch. I know that sounds strange but It feeds the fuel pump. Some times randomly the PCM does a self check and shuts off the fuel pump relay when it does this it runs off power from the oil pressure switch. The easiest way to confirm this as a diagnosis is to unplug the fuel pump relay when the engine is running. If it dies when you unplug it thats it. if not you will probably need a fuel pump or possibly just a cap and rotor (tune) but I belive it is the oil pressure switch.

99 gmc no power when passing or climbing

It could be electric fuel pump stall. The pump isn't pumping fuel fast enough. This model may have a inline fuel filter before the fuel pump as well that might need replacing.
