Clutch problem,where is the slave cylinder located

magnum? a RAM 1500 pickup, i guess magnum is engine jargon?
well it is not really stuck in reverse (well unless is. blush)
but 99%^ of the time that means the clutch is 100% dead.
learn this trick
have a buddy wiggle the truck on say flat garage floor, (no brakes set)
jug it forward and reverse the whole car and you wiggle the shift lever to N
see it does N.
the box has hard cut gears and synchro dogs. and if under pressure huge
the shifter level sticks. all manuals do that, with a dead clutch.
can do it.
do not gorrilla the shift lever or wreck the gear dog forks inside. box.
fix the clutch.

the clutch actuator is dead,. never replace any clutch first
gee my 4wd is 15 hard hours labor to that and I never do , unless MUST/
the best plan on any 22 year old car/clutch is a
new master cylinder and slave kit. first
and learn now to bleed, clutch lines, that are a horror to do .
ok? the fluid in the lines run up/down verically
and the air bubble float up,. making bleeding super hard and confusing to many
. there are tools that make this easy , Pressure bleeding kits.

we make sure this is working first. 100% full stroke or the clutch is useless.
and locked up fully engaged.
at the least it must be bled fully. off all air.

the MC and slave must be bled fully and is not easy to do.
the lines are Vertical and as you bled (actions) the fluid
goes down and bubbles float up, and the job fails.! but this cases Clutch lockup failure or DRAG.
not slip. (but put the here for others with NV4500)

in the factory they used pressure bleed at the MC cap.
fast and sure, but at home, DIY it can be very hard to get air out of this slave.

CAUSE 1:
the other cause is MC installed wrong
the rear if the MC connects to the pedal
when the pedal is not touched by your foot
the rod from pedal top to MC rear must be at clearance
a gap so the MC piston can fully 100% retract
or the MC can not ever pump fluid correctLY blocking the internal MC bore bypass port. and slave is stuck EXTENDED

cause 2 of slip?
the disc fits on the splinned, tranny pilot shaft
and and if the splines are a wreck all galled up

we clean that up, grind it smooth, or the clutch can slip. as the disc hub stalls on the spline.
as left foot is raised.
or wrong throwout used and it jams up too.

MY GUESS IS bad shift gate bushing,<<< A $8 FIX.

It's hydralic,your slave cylinder probably is bad.

Have you checked your master cylinder and slave cylinder. One of the two may have failed

air in the system

air in hydraulic system or throw out bearing bad

look under the drivers side dash and see if there is fluid dripping down fire wall where the clutch rod goes to master cyl.possable leak at master cyl.is the fluid low

Follow your exhaust manifold down from engine to exhaust pipes etc, you should see them sticking out, 3"-4" approx.length, with wires coming from them. Some are right on manifold, some further down on exhaust pipes.

Not always, You can check your hydraulics, get a buddy to put thier foot on the clutch pedal and you look under the truck to see if the clutch actuator is moving. if it is moving enough to engage the clutch, then pull the transmission and check the clutch. not difficult but heavy if 4 whell drive.

first of all standard or auto i am guessing its standed standard under drivers side hood near master cylinder there is a small clutch reservoir if there isnt enough fluid it wont extend the throw out bearing far enough for a shift because the clutch pedal is hitting the floor not enough fluid to extend the slave cylinder to drive the fork second faulty slave cylinder or throw out bearing as far as the light blown dash bulb or somone snipped the wire or took the bulb out
