Some time circuit boards will fool you. maybe if you look for a fuse on the board replace it and re try connecting it if it is fried it is a cheap way to see if its not. today's fuses are pretty good at preventing damage in most cases.
call up the dealership and see if your truck is listed for the free replacement, it was a special recall due to the fact a lot of the cluster circuit boards are frying
Stalling of a vehicle could be caused any number of electrical circuits, loss of vaccuum or even fuel.
Ideally, you should not replace any component until you have queried your vehicle's on-board computer. Your vehicle's computer monitors all essential sensors and electrical circuits and will store the appropriate diagnostic code/s, to help you isolate this defective component.
Checking for codes on your computer first, will save you a lot of headache (and expense) trying to locate this issue.
An experienced technician at your local dealership (or an approved service agent with the correct scanning tool) will be able to check for diagnostic codes within 15-20mins, so this task should not cost too much to do.
I have a few trouble shooting things you can do. These should be taken only if your keyless entry remote was working at some point and then stopped working.
1) Wipe the board
The board inside your remote can get a lot more filthy than you think! When the board is dirty it can prohibit the contact to the circuit board when you push down on the button. Simply wiping the circuit board off can make your key fob like new again!
2) The old car battery reset trick
I know this sounds absurd, but it works sometimes and is worth trying. If you exhausted all of the options above, disconnect bot terminals on your car battery for 10 minutes. Then reconnect them and try your key fob. This has worked for many people and I have no idea why. If you do, please comment below to explain.
3) New fob!
It might be time for a new key fob! No need to dread over the expensive costs of a new key fob, at Keyless Entry Remote Fob Inc., you can get a refurbished one for a very affordable price! You won't even be able to tell the difference. Just search your vehicle make, model, and year to find your key fob or give us a call at 402-671-5100.
I would chase the black ground wire to the frame first. It usually melts because the ground isn't tight, is corroded or high resistance. The ground wire and circuit board will generate a lot of heat when there is high resistance, and the circuit board will melt first. Check right at the connector going to the circuit board, quite often there are signs of poor connection or even the terminals melted there.
Does it crank over and not start? or does it do absolutely nothing when you turn the key? if it does nothing you try a boost It sounds like you have a connection problem somewhere if there is little or no power to anything..........I'm not real familiar with the fuse locations on caravans but your owners manual should tell you where to locate them.........check both fuse panels under the hood and in the interior...make sure none of them are blown....also you might have a wiring problem..........the part that confuse me a little is the fact that it died while driving but didn't give signs of a dead battery........which leads me to think its a blown fuse or a broken wire or bad connection....... hope this helps.......Good luck!
your best bet is to go to a salvage yard. the cost for a new one is quite pricey. you will save a whole lot of money trust me on this. if you can't find one at a yard buy one through Napa or Oreillys cuz if you go to a dealer your gonna pay an arm and a leg for it.. please rate .......thanks
