I have a 2007 Mini Cooper. Earlier today, the window shifted down as it does when the door handle is being opened and the signal showed up on the dash stating that the door wasn't shut. The door had not been opened or closed, and opening and tightly reshutting the door did not solve the problem. This occurred during the entire drive (window shifting up and down, interior light coming on and off, etc.). Restarting the car did not reset the sensor. Any thoughts?

You should be able to by manually unlocking the car by the drivers door handle.

It could be the relay, a burst bulb or a break in the wiring hope this helps.

The hood release is by the drivers left foot rest. To find the release under the hood look at the front grill where the grill starts to bend down on the drivers side under the hood is the release handle.

If window does not open motor stuck
bang door a fire times where speaker is and window should. Work

Put the window down & look into the inside of the door with a small
light & use a wire to unlock or open the door

Then remove the inner door panel & fix the problem

Some things to try:

Raise and lower all windows through a cycle or two

Open and re-latch the Rear shelf latches

With ignition switch on and engine off activate a window switch... listen for a clicking noise. if there is no noise then start checking fuses and relays. The fuse panel in on the left of the drivers legs. open it up it is well marked and in it you will find a handy fuse puller and spare fuses if they're needed. If you hear the clicking sound then try the Mini cooper Thump. Apply it to the doors midway between the large and small speakers (It may take two or three solid thumps) re-apply as needed

Remove door panel check all fitings corrsion, lube with anti electric grease.

drivers door latch is bad there is a module that is part of it and its not responding
