I have a 1998 bighorn, 3.5, V6.Of late the 'Check engine' indicator is always on when the engine is running.I have noted a more fuel consumption and some shaking of the car when on low speed. Is this to do with the Oxygen sensor?

If you have check engine light on you need to have the Diagnostic Trouble Codes read and this will give you a clearer idea of where the problem may lie. A faulty O2 sensor could certainly lead to an over -rich mixture but here is another possibility: Faulty coolant temperature sensor...leads to ECU not being told when engine has reached operating temperature ..... ECU instructs injectors to maintain open cycle condition and keep the mix rich as if engine is still cold. So the causes of rich mixture and lumpy idle can be varied. The DT codes really help in focussing area for examination and ultimately will save time and money. Autozone do DT code reading as a service.

Magnum Club Cab V6. Quarter tank of fuel. Why is it acting as though it's out of gas?

Possible fuel delivery problem. Check fuel pressure for correct PSI. Check fuel filter for restriction. Check engine light on? If so, scan for trouble codes that may indicate sensor issues that can also cause this type of problem

the line up. (wiki list) so its 3.0L 4JX1
stalls and lost power.
The 4JX1 is a 3.0L direct injection diesel engine, turbo, some intercooled, which replaced the 4JG2 in the Isuzu Bighorn/Trooper/Holden Jackaroo. It uses unit injectors and 4 valves per cylinder.

can be caused by many reasons. get it scanned yet. ?
or see FSM book on flash codes from the direct injection fuel
controller? (per this engine option and market)

does turbo have proper boost? (PSI boost or +1 bar boost?)
does it even have a boost gauge.?
there are over 50 causes, of stalls (most inside engine)
but its not getting boost or the injection rates are wrong.
there are basic tests for each covered in the FSM
Factory (oem) service manual, with coverage for this engine.

You could try cycling the ignition switch on and off several times before you crank it. If it helps check the fuel system. The spider fuel system is noted for problems. Key on engine off, 60--66 psi fuel pressure.

My bighorn is 1998 moder turbo diesel. I was running around 80 kph and engine suddenly stop. Tried to restart but engine failed to run.

hi..

My bighorn is 1998 moder turbo diesel
-this may because of the seizure of the engine. the piston may got seized with the liner. this happens because the engine oil is not sufficient to lubricate the moving parts. try to service the engine that is the only way for getting back the engine and keep a good track of yout engine oil
