Into the low pressure return pipe ,its the smaller of the two connections and then start engine turn ac on and the compressor to draw the gas into the system

  • steven98mont Jul 11, 2011

Could you be more specific? I can only find one port, the port with the H on it which I assume is the high pressure port. Where can I find the low pressure AC port on my 98 mitsubishi montero sport LS 4WD. 3.0? They have to have hidden this port really well.

sorry about delay in answering but my back is bad and sitting at computer is a definate no go area at the moment ,hope you have found the low pressure port by now though ,just follow the fat pipe backwards from the connection on the firewall and it will be their somewhere .Imagine yours truely here when i re-gas cars i do have some fun and games finding the ports and on some europeon cars like a renault their is no high pressure port just a low pressure one but with the high pressure connection ,this stops people re-filling from a can which in all honesty helps myself with a bit more work for my machine as they cannot find the low one with the narrower connection .

2010 caravan ac wont work from switch,

You say refrigerant is "full", but it can have too much. If you have attempted to "top off" your refrigerant then you may have too much, keeping the compressor from engaging. If you haven't messed with it and the compressor just stopped engaging on it's own then I would start checking the relay, fuse and the ac switch.

How to add refrigerant to a Dodge avenger ac

First, if you have no ac experience, let someone else do it.
If you have the proper gauges, connect the low side gauge to the low side port located on the larger ac line running on the passenger side of engine. Remove cap and attach port adapter. With engine running about 1500 rpm slowly add refrigerant. Note, there is NOT a glass site to see how much is in the system and if you overcharge it , it will cost you.
The ac shop will evacuate, pull out all refrigerant, with a machine and put back in the correct amount.

How hard would it be to add AC to a 2004 Cavalier Ecotec?

NOT HARD TO ADD BUT YOU NEED A MANIFOLD GAUGE SET TO CHECK AC REGERANT LOW SIDE SHOULD BE 32 - 65 HIGH SIDE SHOULD BE 150 - 325 PSI. DONT PUT ANY REFRIGERANT IN AC SYSTEM IF SYSTEM NOT LOW.PROBLEM COULD BE ELSE WHERE COULD HAVE MOISTURE IN THE AC SYSTEM. CONDENSOR COULD BE OVERHEATING COOLING FAN NOT RUNNING OR AC AIR DOOR NOT OPENING.IF AC REFRIGERANT LOW THE LOW CHARGE PORT NEXT TO REAR STRUT TOWER ON PASSENGER SIDE LOOK FOR SMALL REFRIGERANT LINE WITH CAP GOING TO ACCUMULATOR THE THE INTO FIREWALL TO EVAPORATOR THATS YOUR LOW SIDE.GO TO AUTO PARTS STORE BUY AC R-134 RECHARGE KIT AND WHERE SAFETY GLASSES PROTECT EYES.

My 1997 cadillac refrigerant , i got r 134 coolant that it said to buy and the compressor want come on to charge on the gage its almost to the red (warning) level do i keep putting in till it gets enough...

NOPE STOP CHARGING DONT PUT NO MORE REFRIGERANT IN SYSTEM.DO GOING TO DAMAGE NEW COMPRESSOR AND THE EXCESS PRESSURE WILL BUILD UP CAUSE THE REFRIGERANT CANISTER TO BURST EXPLODE INJURY OR FATALLY HURT YOU. BEST TAKE CAR TO A GARAGE.LET GARAGE PUMP DOWN AC SYSTEM AND CHARGE UP.BECAUSE YOU WILL DAMAGE NEW COMPRESSOR. MOST OF TIME I WILL HOT WIRE THE AC COMPRESSOR. MAKE SURE COMPRESSOR HAS 2 OUNCES OIL IN IT.IF COMPRESSOR START UP NO OIL IT WILL LOCK UP.DONT KEEP PUTTING REFRIGERANT IN THE AC SYSTEM, THE R 134A GOING TO FREEZE UP TOO MUCH MOISTURE IN SYSTEM YOU HAVE TO HAVE A VACUUM PUMP TO PUMP DOWN AC SYSTEM CHECK FOR LEAKS BEFORE CHARGING SYSTEM UP.LOW SIDE NEED TO BE 31 - 36 PSI THE HIGH SIDE SHOULD BE 165 - 205 PSI.

I am trying to locate the port for ac refrigerant on a 2002 ford focus

To add refrigerant to your A/C system, remove front passenger side tire, remove plastic inner liner of whel well ( I only removed the torx bolt that holds it to the fender and folded it back) There is a silver canister there with a small tube with a black cap, that is the low side where the refrigerant goes. Get the hose attachment wit a gauge so you don't overfill, and a can of r134a, I used duPont Suva, and follow the directions on the hose attachment. Cost around $35USD total and about 45minutes and I now have cool air blowing.

Hi..i had to change a/c condencer, and the a/c compresser, both at the same time.how will i go about charging the system? do i need to add coolent too both ports? or just the low side.?

YOU TAKE TO A GARAGE LET THEM PUMP IT DOWN FIRST MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE RIGHT AMOUNT REFRIGERANT OIL IN COMPRESSOR.IT COME WITH SHIPPING OIL IN IT BUT YOU HAVE TO POUR IT OUT.PUT IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT OIL IN COMPRESSOR LOOK IN OWNERS MANUAL TO PUT IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT.NOW IF YOUR OLD COMPRESSOR SEIZED OR LOCKED UP THEN LET GARAGE FLUSH OUT METAL SHAVINGS OUT .IF YOU DONT FLUSH OUT SHAVINGS THE NEW COMPRESSOR WILL BE DESTROYED.ALSO YOU HAVE TO REPLACED THE ACCUMULATOR OR ORIFICE TUBE IF EQUIPPED.IF OLD COMPRESSOR DIDNT LOCK UP.PUT NEW REFRIGERANT OIL IN COMPRESSOR IT TAKE AT LEAST 1 OUNCE OF OIL BUT CHECK OWNERS MANUAL ALL VECHICLE HAS DIFFERENT SPECS.AFTER COMPRESSOR OIL BEEN PUT IN EVERYTHING ALL REFRIGERANT LINES TIGHT.TAKE VECHICLE TO A GARAGE THAT DO AIR CONDITIONER WORK.THEY HAVE TO USE A VACUUM PUMP TO PUMP DOWN THE AC SYSTEM TO REMOVE MOISTURE AND LEAK TEST THE SYSTEM WHILE IT PUMP DOWN.IF YOU DONT LET THE GARAGE PUMP DOWN SYSTEM. THE MOISTURE WILL FREEZE UP IN AC SYSTEM CAUSING POOR OR NO COOLING.THE GARAGE GOING TO CHARGE YOU TO PUMP DOWN AND CHARGE UP SYSTEM.IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO DO THIS THAN TO BUY A VACUUM PUMP AND MANIFOLD GAUGE SET.WHEN DOING AC WORK YOU NEED SPECIAL EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS TO DO THE JOB OR THE AC SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK RIGHT.

1997 Dodge Caravan puts out warm air

Your car uses R-134A, readily available at most auto parts stores. Best bet is to get a refill kit that includes the refill hose (get one with a pressure gauge attached if possible to ensure you don't overfill the system). Recharging is pretty straight forward. Turn the car on with the AC on HIGH, locate the low side AC line (will have a screw on cap). Attach the refrigerant to the hose but don't puncture the can until the other end of the hose is attached to the low side valve. Once both ends are attached, turn the screw on the hose to puncture the can of refrigerant; the car should suction the refrigerant out of the can. Disconnect the hose when the can's empty and check the vents on the AC. If its cold and frost develops on the AC lines under the hood, you're good to go. Best of luck and post back with any questions.

How do you put in refrigerant for air conditioning

refrigerant is added at the low side charging port, this port is located in the low side AC line from the AC compressor, it is the larger of the two AC lines from the AC compressor, you add until the pressure is stable at around 28-32 PSI with AC on.
