Why does my 1992 ford drain the battery overnight? Are there any common problems in that year?

Almost anything electrical can drain your battery before going around removing fuses etc make sure it's not the battery itself at fault

this happened to me on my 1999 ford truck, it was the starter draining the battery, so i installed a automatic disconnect now the battery voltage will drop so far then disconnect, so when i go to start the truck it will have enough voltage to start.

Check to be sure that your hood light is turning off when you close the hood. Seriously. (Common problem.)
Remove the bulb from the hood light to see if the problem persists. If the battery no longer drains, replace the hood light assembly.
Also, run the car for a short while, then turn the car off. Leave the car off for an hour, then feel the back of the alternator. If it is hot, the diodes are bad in the alternator.

Sound like a problem with the oil sending unit or ground wires connections, that drain your charge overnight. Check it to solved.

A battery that runs down overnight usually means a bad battery cell...you can sometimes see a swelling of the battery case as the cells are aging...if battery is new...a rare starter short can cause the battery to drain overnight...When running, have the battery tested before you are stranded...Hope this helps.

Have your alternator and voltage regulator checked. I once had a galaxie 500 that did the same thing - turned out the alternator was bad and the regulator drained the battery overnight. I changed out both and problem solved - hope you have the same luck!!!

You have an amperage pull occurring. Most likely cause is going to be the alternator/regulator. Have it checked for a fault.
