Unplug the sensor that goes to the gauge and take a wire and put it in one end of the sensor wire and touch the other end to the battery ground or any other engine ground and get someone to see if the temp gauge starts to move if it goes all the way to hot then the sensor is bad and if it does not move the gauge is bad or the the wire from sensor to gauge is bad. good luck let me know if i was any help at all...............

I have change the sensor and gauge and still my car temp. gauge moves to the hot zone right away. what elese can it be. I even check the relay is good.

Try disconnecting the sensor. then turn on the ignition switch and see what the guage dose. If it still goes to the top, chances are there is a short in the wiring. If it does nothing, chances are you have a defective sensor.

Your best bet would be to have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! May not be a sensor problem , could be a wiring issue . Most auto part stores will do this for free , and if it is a sensor they can show you where it lives an how to change it !
