I own a 2007 forester xt with 105000 mi. No problems with the CD player until yesterday. We were playing one CD fine, then my friend loaded in a second and neither will play or allow themselves to be ejected. When I select CD a message appears in EJECT CD. If I hold the eject button down a while I get EJECT ALL CDS. Nothing happens but you can hear something whirring. What gives???

The eject motor inside the unit is stuck, we see this if the unit is usely used as a one cd only unit then someone disides to install more then one cd it forces the cd changer to move into some uncharted territory, you can try this to reset the motor un-hook the battery for a min or two then hook it back up, make sure you have the unlock code before you do this, if this does not reset the unit then it is time to go to the dealer.....sorry, but the unit is non-serviceable

Disc will not load into subaru forester cd changer

This also happened to my 2002 WRX. I took the CD player out of the console and found a tiny spring (which I could not find) was not in its location, which would actuate the "play CD" switch inside. After a few hours I decided to reassemble the player and use it as a non-CD unit. The radio and cassette player still work, so I purchased a cassette MP3 player adapter so I can plug in my cell phone and play songlists.

Does this car have a manufactures warranty ? If so this should be covered. Even if the warranty has recently expired, they would normally cover this as a goodwill gesture if you are persistant. : )

I just acquired the same problem. I tried to put a new CD in and it wouldn't take it. I ended up pushing it in when I was trying to get it back out and now it won't play the CD, or eject it. I think it could be stuck between tracks, but they want $188 to look at it and fix it even if it is a simple fix. I am looking for suggestions also, Diane

are there any cd's with homemade labels ,how many cd's are loaded?the dealer will recommend to remove the radio and send out for repair costing you a couple hundo or more depending on the problem if you're out of warranty, you'll also be out a radio until its repaired,if your factory warranty is still in they will just order an exchage unit and call you for install when it arrives. hope this helps, good luck!

CD player is not working.

I would first try removing the fuse to the radio/cd player, see if that resets the system and get the cd out.

Hope this helps some.
