2004 VW Pasat - Battery died and now charged, but now wont run for more than a few seconds. a disable (Immobile activated) light comes on and when I checked manual, it said the light comes on for 2 seconds than turns off. which it did. car still wont start. tried cifferent keys in case one of the key batteries (?) was low. keyless entry works. is it cutting off the feul pump?

the keyless code is by the right rear door panel. open the door, remove the panel that's over the the seatbelt. after doing that open but you don't have just kind of stretch out and their you will find a black box or reciever with a sticker and a 5 digit code stamped on it. if you want to change the passcode refer to your manual, but you'll need the original code to be able to change it.

most likely cause is the gauge cluster, this will have to be tested and service by your local dealership because the dash cluster and keys have to be coded. I have seen the immobilizer loose it's coding for apearantly no reason. therefore have them recode cluster and see if problem goes away, if it doesn't the gauge cluster will have to be replaced.

MY guess would be that it's the starter, with an automatic transmission, if the car is not in park or neutral, the car wont even attempt to start, so the clicking sound you say you hear rules that out. Now, im not an "expert" or anything just a guy with some general knowlege, so before you do anything i would recommend having it looked at, but if you feel confident enough, the starter is where i would begin, hope this helps, and good luck.
