Yeah it could be the igntion switch, specially if you don't even hear a relay clicking. This could also be caused by a loose connection aroun the battery area, check all the connection around the main fuse under the hood, and around the battery area. Next time it happens turn the key to on position and check voltage to a main fuse. If the 12 volt is missing then the problem is around there somewhere.
I just posted my experience in another place on this site but on my 1992 PA the accessories relay stuck closed. This relay is the one that allows you to listen to the radio etc and keep things on until you open the door then all shuts off. When it is stuck closed accessories keep running until your battery drains dead. The relay was replaced and all worked great.
got to be something left on though like cigarette lighter stuck in somewhere or interior light on or maybe light under hood or maybe trunk ? you mean the battery goes dead if you dont remove that fuse right ? thanks Jerry holler back if you need more.
the fuse block is under the dash on the left side just to the right of your emergency brake. you might have to take some plastic off to get to it. I know your key part of the switch is in the steering column but the actual ignition switch is under the dash on top of the steering column . There is a rod that runs from the key part to the switch. But anyway check there and let me know. God Bless Greg
