We took the car to air care and it was rejected because after work was done, the monitors were not reset yet. I was told to drive it around more and that it would reset automatically. He also said sometimes there are "tricks" you can do to quickly reset these monitors. The monitors that were not set were for the catalyst and EGR. There were no troubled codes.

"drive it around more" is the solution. This allows the ECU to "learn" and store the operating conditions for emissions. 100km/ 60 miles is usually enough.

2001 chevrolet tahoe secondary air system not working cant pass smog all I did was replace battery before getting it smog

Disconnecting the battery resets the PCM - engine computer ,an the emission monitors . A drive cycle has to be done to get the monitors to run an hopefully set. That's all you need to do is drive it for few days of different driving conditions - city , highway ,from cold start . google GM drive cycle . OBD Monitor Not Ready

98 voyager computer reset?

after a battery is died or remove/replace the computer needs to run a self test on all the sensors and emissions test will not run test until what they call monitors have run so that is a normal function and low freon charge shuts the system off to prevent compressor damage the light will flash instead of turning on

Took Tahoe for a Smog test and test station won't accept car because the computer hasn't reset to 10, only 8 points and was told to drive the car around until it completes the cycle, then bring it back....

Some monitors in the computer may need 500 miles of different driving styles and speeds before they are happy and many "start from cold" driving cycles.
DON'T RESET anything and DO NOT let the battery go dead or you will have to start over.
