Does anyone know how to unlock the boot lid on a Jaguar X type when the key fob will not work, is there any way in to the boot to try to unlock it as the back seats in my Jaguar do not move.
I am assuming your problem is similar to mine; the key fob isn't dead, but for some reason the boot won't release. This happens rarely, but can be very frustrating (and embarrassing)!
When neither the key fob nor the release on the boot work, lock and unlock the car, and insert the key into the ignition. Turn the key to the second stage, i.e. the accessories are powered, and then remove the key. This ought to allow you to use the fob again.
Use your key under rear number plate shroud but first make sure that the clears the nomber plate as there can be a restriction by the number plate surround if this dosent work then open the fuse box in the engine bvay and use jump leads from another battery conect the black jump lead to the suspension strut mounting bolt there are 3 of these and then with the help of a second person hold the the boot release button pushed in while you touch the red jump lead to one of the spare terminals in the fuse box
The jaguar symbol on the back is the auxillary button and will work if the doors are unlocked
What has pob happened the boot lock motorised leaver has stuck. [common fault] you may get boot open by pressing the the key fob [boot lock button]and at the same time with the flat of your hand knocking the the boot around the middle of number plate . you may have to try many times.onec the boot is open it is the same as when you can not shut boot . have a look at fixya boot will not close. .good luck wend
