Most common thing we used to see on the older 22R engines was the timing chain guides would brake and allow the timing chain to rub on the inside of the timing cover and this would cause a hole to be warn into a coolant passage allowing coolant to leak into the oil pan and then this would cause rod and main bearing failure, also if the chain jumps or brakes all the valves will be bent.

Install speaker in 1987 toyota pickup truck front

Need a special speaker, 4" max size, for the front as it has an angle tab to match the molded dash. Try Crutchfield as I bought my replacement Pioneer form them decades ago and it sounds so much better. They provide it with correct plug installed. a 10 minute job.

1987 toyota pickup horn problems

My 1987 pickup has a broken horn too. I looked into it and think I know the reason. The steering wheel has a little pin that rubs up on a metal disk, and this pin and disk are what supply the battery voltage to the horn button on the steering wheel. I can see a small gap between the two. The pin appears to have been worn away just enough that it doesn't make contact anymore. If I shove a piece of metal into the gap my horn will work. I need to replace the pin.

How to replace lower control arms on 1987 Toyota 1 ton pickup

Disconnect stabilizer bar and shock. Remove Lower ball joint. Remove the two bolts that hold the lower suspension arm to the frame. A lot of times the later model trucks these bolts are completely seized requiring them to be cut and you will need to special order the bolt and bushings from the dealer.

1987 toyota truck, 22r, carb. sometimes goes into a mode where it

I had the same problem 3 weeks ago with my 87 Toyota truck. I posted the problem here and the response I got was- On the passenger side rear of the carburetor is a cold air idle valve, it has a two wire pigtail on it, remove the valve and clean it out with carb cleaner. Then screw it back in and all should be well. I did this, not really expecting much. My truck started right up and has been idling with no problem since. Try this and also your fuel filter.
