--2005 GMC Envoy AC Trouble--(compressor still active) Have replaced blower motor (original one had "burn" evidence), resistor and resistor connector. The blower is still not working. Have checked voltage at blower switch (behind speed dial/knob). Brown and green wires respond but each motor speed wire doesn't respond on voltage meter. Have also checked voltage of resistor and it doesn't respond either. Any advice on what to try next?

Have checked the 40 amp fuse under the hood as well as the 30 amp in the fuse "box" behind the driver's seat. Both seem OK.

just loosened blower motor. speeds 1-4 work now. apparently it was over tightened and hinging the motor.
what should i do for speed 5?

  • Jonah Oneal Jun 06, 2011

CHECK MAKE SURE BLOWER MOTOR WIRES IN PLACE TIGHT GETTING GOOD GROUND. PROBLEM IN SWITCH OR RESISTOR IF YOU CANT GET SPEED 5. IF YOU LOOSEN MOVE BLOWER MOTOR AND IT RUNS MORE LIKELY ELECTRICAL WIRES WAS NOT IN PLACE TIGHT.

How to replace rear fan resistor envoy 2003

Doesn't have a resistor. It has a blower motor control processor. When they go bad, the blower motor defaults to always on (go figure that logic). Pull the AUX blower motor fuse until you can get a replacement. The processor is located back by the rear blower motor.

2005 envoy the fan wont shutoff after the engines been turned off

The fan for the heater right? If so, for the autoclimate control you need to replace the blower motor countrol module. If it's manual controls, replace the blower motor resistor assembly.

First thing to do is check the fuses. Check ac fuses and relays and auxilary relays. If okay you may have a bad blower motor or blower motor resistor

Trouble shooting climate control intermitting blower problem # 5 speed has not been working for about 3 months # 1 2 3 4 speed is now working intermittingly

GMC has an ongiong problem with the blower motor resistor, look under the dash on the passenger side and you will see the blower housing, unplug the wireing harness that feeds it and look at the plug carefully you will see that the third pin from the left has been over heated and is melted a little. the repair is quick and easy go to your local parts store and purchase a new resistor and a replacement wireing plug, you will have to cut the old plug off and splice the new one in, replace the resistor and your done. I would recomend that the wires be and spliced cut one at a time so as to insure that they are put in the right location.

AC blower fan no working on any speed. Somtimes works on speed 5.

The blower motor resistor needs replaced.Would also check the harnesses going to the resistor and blower motor for signs on melted wiring or poor connection. You may also need new pigtails if there is evidence of of wiring damage.

2005 GMC Envoy. Blower will not work all fuses have been checked. No heat or A/C, ANY THOUGHTS

If this a manual HVAC system, the blower motor resistor pack is defective or the blower motor itself is bad.
If this is the Automatic digital HVAC, the blower motor control module is defective or the blower motor itself is bad.

2005 GMC Envoy SLE blower fan speed #5 is not working

More than likely this should just be your resistor. You have different sized coils on the back of your resistor for all the different fan speeds. if one of them burns out or breaks then that certain speed will not work.
