The extra brake travel can be; 1. air still in the brake lines and need bleeding 2. if there are brake drums on the rear they may be out of adjustment 3. if there are warped brake disc or caliper problems that will add to the brake travel
same problem with mine, took us awhile but we got it. you need to fold down the back seat, snap the fake truck piece on either side, pop off the door skin, starting under the convertible top bar that runs across the door, and there it is. we managed to pop off the fake trunk thingy without breaking it, it hooks on either side but you can still use it after-wards even if you do break it. good luck
you need to check and see if these have a brake pedal adjustment on them i think they do where you control pedal can up/down for comfort of the driver go to autozone they can tell you for sure
They may have become seized, which is when the brakes are hot, and you hit a water puddle, the water crystallizes the brakes. Thee will need replaced, if not it will tear up the rotor,
