My 1991 e230 M102.985 is very hard to start, but when started it runs good. changed petrol filter, but the problem doesn't fix

Change the fuel filter.

Please remove the Ford Fiesta logo from the car and it should run better. If not then try replacing the fuel filter.

Try this first, and lets see what happens. Turn key to on, but not start, then off. do that about four or five times, then try to start. See if it starts, runs, then dies. Let me know. Have you had fuel pressure tested at all? If it doesn't start and run for a short while at least, take air intake hose off at throttle body intake, open throttle and spray a good shot of WD-40 into throttle body, then try to start. If it starts, you have a fuel delivery problem, maybe fuel pump or plugged filter would be first to check. Just because you hear the pump, doesn't necessarily mean it's getting proper pressure to run. Let me know what happens when you try this, and we'll go from there.

Hi i need help my mk1 golf carb starts and idle fine but as the car idle and enjin is getting hot then she just jerk and cut out then start it again it starts fine but idle for aboutfew sec then cut out again..i unplug the temp sensor problem remain petrol filter new new plugs and plug wires new boch distributor...plus 1/2 tank of feul...what els can i try any help..can this be electrical problem or what all my fuses checked and is fine any help pls

put a funnel in the gas nozzle have someone turn ignition on to almost start, but don't. You should hear pump running before you start your van if you don't hear the pump you know you have a defective pump if you hear the pump purchase a fuel filter try that if not possibly could the relay not sure where its at but could finds out for you.good luck

If a car doesn't start normally there could be 3 main causes:
1.No spark (check spark plugs and distributor for wear end aging)
2.No fuel (check the fuel filter(if a fuel come out dark from it - change the filter, fuel pump (for wear), fuses(for burns))
3.No air (check the air filter)

If this doesn't help take it to professionals. Hope this helps

It does sound like the fuel pump may have a problem, however, usually when they go out they completely fail and don't work at all.

I would recommend changing the fuel filter first, which is not too expensive. If that doesn't help, you probably will have to change out the pump.

Is it one click or multiple clicks. If it's multiple clicks, it sounds like a dead battery. Voltage isn't always an indicator of a good battery, you need to have enough cranking amps to be able to start an engine also. If you have dash lights and it only clicks once, you could have a bad starter. An easy way to check this is to try and jump start the vehicle. If it starts up with a jump start, you need a new battery. If it still doesn't start up and it just clicks, you probably need a new starter.
