Can drive my 1997 jagaur xk8 in the S button on center console to use J-Gate with no engine fault coming up not matter how long i drive it when i hit the button to the left for cruise control and drive it for 5 minutes engine fault light comes on, car drives perfect with it on the light on console you press next to the S so you can use Cruise control goes off as well, codes read P1111 and P1634 car doesnt ever drive different still drives great and has tremendous power im at a loss, turn ignition off and wait 1 minute restart car no engine fault light and cruise control and everything else is just fine,drive in J-gate no further problems until trying to use cruise control then get engine fault codes back

This is only part of a solution or suggestion. I have the same problem and the car manual says to reach under the tail gate, inside under the carpet and there is an emergency release. I can't find it. It says you need a screw driver or sharp skinny object to do this. Good luck hope you find it. Hope you have your manual.

Just a quick mention - for about a month my XK8 low coolant light came on intermittently. This week with no notice while driving normally I got Stability Control Fail and FailSafe Engine Mode and wtih great difficulty got the car back to where I started from (less than a mile). Two days later (when got time) and after a bit of research, I tried it again - same problem and a very unhappy engine. I then disconnected the battery for 15 minutes (probably more) to clear the engine codes as well as check all the wiring and vacuum stuff I could under the hood (at a Jaguar master mechanic's recommendation). No problems found but the car would start and immediately stall with the air intake hose disconnected from the intake butterfly. After I reconnected the air intake hose, she started and purred like normal. The problem is the BATTERY... It is low - I've known it for a LONG time BUT it always started right up and never skipped a beat. I intend to replace it tonight but fully expect that's the issue. I've had the car 6 years (it's a 98) and had NO problems except a dead taillight asembly.

make sure the back window is all the way up then try the wiper, if it still does not work then it is a sensor for the rear window (about $30.00) if you installed it yourself

I'm hoping you found an answer to this already, but if not, here it is. Try looking at fuse # 16 in the fuse panel under the driver side dash. It should be a blue 15 Amp fuse & it controls the cigarette lighter & lift gate, amongst other things. My guess is that you will find it has popped & needs to be replaced. It's an easy job to do if you have a fuse holder or a pair of needle nose pliers. Out with the old, in with the new. IMHO, this is a poor deign by Lincoln in the fact that the change holder is right next to the cigarette lighter & if you happen to drop a penny or dime into the lighter/outlet, it pops the fuse. This can be a common problem if you don't keep the lighter in there, & use the outlet for cell phone charger, ipod, etc. This has happened to me a couple times, so I bought a small box of fuses & keep them in the glove compartment now, just in case it should happen while I'm out & about somewhere.
