This type of engine does not have timing marks to set ignition timing, this is electronically set by the DME ( Digital Motor Electronics) which can only be set by BMW specialist and there OEM test equipment.
The sadder thing is you have a 740. align both cam pulley per the book or where you marked them before you took the chain off. They're marked in relation to top dead center of the #1 cylinder and crankshaft.
Didn't do that beforehand.......uh oh. Tow it to dealer, bring one wheelbarrow full of fresh cash. Drive away in about 6 hours.
