When I first get in my truck it wont trun over on the first try. It take about six to seven trys to finally start. I changed the fuel filter and still didn't work. The pressure gauge cap in the motor says about 50 to 55 psi. I hear the fuel pump working when the key is in the on postion.

This could be many things, but you might have leaky fuel injector(s). Possible weak spark.

SOURCE: no power when hit the gas

The fuel presure should be at least 60- 66 psi key on engine off, and then drop some when started, if it doesn't go any higher than 50 psi that would explain your backfire concern. If it is low then the fuel pump is weak. I have also seen soot on the little wires inside the Mass Airflow Sensor cause a concern like this.

The oil presure switch does have some bearing on the problem but my suggestion is to change the coil. I had a the same problem with an astro van. I changed everything that you have described and it fixed the problem just for a little while and then all of a sudden did it again. I changed the coild and the cold start swithch and never had the problem again.

When you hook the pressure test guage to shrader valve on fuel rail what it reads is what the pressure is from pump, around 60 p.s.i. all you need to do is hook up the guage and turn on key, you do not have to turn engine over, and if pump is good it will shoot up to 58 or 60 right now.

93 bronco, yes carb cleaner in throttle body it runs, will not start other wise it trys to start but wont

Sounds like a fuel starvation issue. 1.) change the fuel filter. 2.) Do a fuel pump test.. is it working? If you turn the key to the ACC position do you hear the fuel pump working?.. will sound like a buzzing coming from the fuel tank area.

International. Flat head six diesel wont run. Spray starting fliud will start then die changed fuel filter checked fuses still wont run

If it will start and run with starting fluid or gasoline you have a fuelling problem and so will need to find out why you are not getting fuel into the engine. Fuel pump maybe??

My wont start ive tred almost everything 1999 pontiac montana 3.4 van i mistakenly put stp in the fuel tank a week ago and it trys to turn over but it just pop and gray smoke comes out the exshust pipe...

try this, remove the spark plugs, then turn engine over a few times. if the stp is in the piston area it will force it out through the plug holes. put the plugs back in, then start it if it will. if still no start. system will need to be flushed out. especially the fuel tank.

I ran my car out of gas and after putting gas in it still wouldnt start. i got told to change the fuel filter...i did and still wont start even thou it wants to...it trys to turn over but still wont...

You don't pressurize anything
You didn't have to change the filter either

You need to check to see if the fuel pump
comes on at all,in the start position when cranking

If you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail on engine

If not then the fuel pump may have failed

Also, do you have a crank signal, spark, etc

Have it taken to a repair shop

02 ford focus se 2.0 split port,at idle would run rough, & almost sounds like its surging while idling auto zone said fuel to lean finally just quit, & it wouldtry to start but it finally wouldn't...

the MAF (mass air flow) meter may be faulty, this is typical of the symptoms you are getting. It is just after the air filter in the large bore pipe leading to the inlet on the engine, not a cheap part but you may get one on ebay, just remove and unplug the original and swap it.

Car act like it want to trun on but when you trun it on it make a puttput sound and wont trun on

pull the main plug wire and get a small bolt that fits in the wire and use the intake as a ground with a gap between while someone cranks to check for spark. dont touch the metal it will shock you. if there is no spark check the plugs if they are fouled change plugs, wires, dis. cap and rotor, if they look good and your not getting spark replace the ignition module. now the easy way to see if your getting fuel remove the air intake hose and spray a shot of either or brake clean in the throttle body, if it starts up it is a fuel problem if it doesnt run for a second on either it is a spark issue. if it is a fuel problem start by hitting the bottome of the gas tank with a little force but not to much and try starting it, if it starts you need a fuel pump if not check fuses and see if the relays click and i'd even change the fuel filter
