My 2006 Ford Fusion has issues. When driving, if you take your foot off the accelerator, it jerks so bad and slows down...I mean JERKS... as it slows down, then when you want to accelerate again, it sticks in gear and the RPM needle goes nuts. Then it will **** again and accelerate, but you have to keep taking your foot off the accelerator and tapping it to get it to "reset." I've complained about this for two years, but it has gotten progressively worse

Most likely issue is your accelerator position sensor. Recommed you remove it and test with an ohmmeter. I don't have the pinout, but there are only four pins. Find the two pins that have a change in resistance when the arm is rotated. The resistance should change smoothly as you rotate the arm. If it jumps around, replace it. Cost is about $75.

SOURCE: Ford C-max acceleration problem

What they mean by clearing the codes is your vehicles computer should have turned on a light on your instrument panel to alert you of a problem. The computer stores these problems for service to find with their gauges. When the battery is disconnected for 15 minutes it can clear most codes, leaving a blank slate to record the newest problems. The service people could have cleared the codes for you on your way out and they really did not help you .
Check under the hood for labels for vacuum line routing, and vacuum lines hanging off or in the wrong positions. Check your transmission fluid levels. Sometimes vehicles use vacuum lines to make transmission parts work.

SOURCE: Ford Contour (2.5 V6 manual) jerks badly with throttle modulation

Check the lower motor mount near the drivers side. This usually is a problem with these cars. It costs about 140.00 or so depending where you reside. Also check the passenger side hanger bearing on the CV shaft if this is loose it will cause jerking too.

Testimonial: "turns out something caused the cv joint to rupture horribly and the axle ended up with about 2 inches of play. thank you for your help."

SOURCE: 98 ford e 150 van idles in park fine. But when

Did you try changing plugs and WIRES!! wires are the most common cause of this problem, under load if you have a bad cracked wire it will "leak" the spark causing a weaker spark there for making your spark at the plug weak not burning the entire charge in the cylinder. If this still doesn't solve your problem being the cheap way (im sure it may fix it) try by changing your coil packs let me know what happens. If all else fails you may have a sloppy injector

SOURCE: 2000 ford econoline jerks

It does it more uphill because the engine needs more fuel. Its starving. How about replacing the fuel filter.

I have a 09 ford fusion sel 2.3 when it goes into reverse it jerks real bad and when you put it in drive it goes no where the wrech light is on

I suggest you have a transmission specialist look at it. The jerk could be the transmission 'slipping'. A wrench light usually means a service is needed. The specialist will be able to service the transmission and find any other issues.

My car jerks going down the road its a 95 Buick century and it changes gears fine when I take off just stares jerking a few days ago

When you say it "jerks," this description could fit several actual symptoms. If by "jerks" you mean the engine misfires, it could be caused by the need for a major tune-up (including plug wires and distributor cap), or it could be a problem with fuel delivery, contaminated fuel, or defective components in the fuel system.
I assume the CHECK ENGINE light is on (and has probably been illuminated for some time now). Begin by doing a readout of the stored codes, and use the results to begin your diagnosis.
If by "jerks" you mean the transmission is slipping (engine revs but car slows down or doesn't accelerate), you have a transmission issue. If the transmission fluid and strainer/filter have not been replaced within the past 5 years or 50,000 miles, have a complete transmission service performed.
If by "jerks" you mean that the steering wheel wobbles or pulls, you have a problem with the front suspension.
If by "jerks" you mean that the car shudders or pulls when you apply the brakes, you need brake work.
I think I covered all of the "jerks." ;)

Anytime the check engine light comes on, you check the computer for trouble codes. The codes will not tell you what to replace, but rather what to check.
