Question about 2000 Jaguar S-Type
Failsafe engine mode means that there's something wrong with your car. This feature limits you to 30% throttle to allow you to get safely off the highway or to a shop. It is a safety feature so you're not stranded somewhere.
This is most commonly seen when the brake switch goes - it is possible to fix it with a lot of WD40 to get the contacts going again. The brake switch is under the dash connected to the brake arm.
If you take it into a shop, they may want to replace it. It will be at least $50 for the part.
