I tried to install a Amp and Subwoofer into my 99 Oldsmobile Bravada, I used the Factory Delco Stereo Head unit, I don't have any other head unit, everything is wired properly and I grounded the amp fine. I did attach the REM cord on the amp to the Switched 12v in the back of the factory Delco stereo, after buttoning everything up I now get no sound from any speakers. All the stereo controls and lights and CD player all work, but no sound. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: AC display won't dim after stereo installation

If you disconnect the stereo, does the temp. display go back to working properly? Did you connect the stereo Illumination wire correctly? Are all the other stereo wires connected correctly? Double check what the wires in the aftermarket harness are supposed to be and don't just go by color.

SOURCE: 99 olds Intrigue factory CD player problem

I am not sure about repairing the unit. Do you have a CD cleaner?
You might check with a reputable auto electronics shop, one that specializes in car audio. They may have an adapter that will allow an aftermarket radio to be controlled from the steering wheel. Rosen makes a nice am/fm/cd/dvd navigation unit that also has XM and iPod inputs. The hard part will be to find supporting interfaces and wiring harnesses to fit a 99.

Rear speakers don't work after new head unit

There could be several reasons why the head unit for your car does not work. The most likely issue is that the head unit is not compatible with your stereo system. You can consult your vehicle owner's manual for speaker issues.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2007 Chrysler 300 dash speakers and front right speaker aren't working

there is an amp usually built into the factory head unit or mounted in the dash behind the head unit. I would try running a new wire straight from the back of the stereo to the speaker and see if it works. if it does then you have a broken wire and need to run new ones

My radio volume just stopped working but you can see the channels and change from different stations what is wrong with it

If you have volume but cannot control it, this is a common problem. The volume is optical so it may just have dust in it, but I have had zero luck cleaning them. The only solution I know is to replace the whole head unit.
If you have an HK factory stereo with no volume at all, and the four channels went out one at a time, the amp in the trunk has failed. Another common problem. The amp is on the driver side above the wheel well. You have to remove the driver side rear deck speaker to get the trunk lining off without tearing it. The screws that hold in the speaker are beneath the speaker grill in the rear deck. Good luck getting a 15-year-old speaker grill up without breaking the snaps. Slide a putty knive in from the sides to try to release them, but they will break anyway.
If the amp has failed, you can just bypass the amp but you will have no subs or tweeters. I did that while looking for a good deal on a junkyard amp. You can buy a new HK amp from BMW but they are prohibitively expensive. You could buy an alternate brand amp and add crossover circuits to power the subs and tweeters if you are really handy with electronics.

If you have an HK system in your BMW and you replace the head unit, use the antenna power wire from the new stereo as the 'on' signal for your HK amp in the trunk. Your FM may not work quite as well because the BMW head unit communicates with the antenna amplifier. Also, if you have a BMW CD changer in your trunk, no other head unit will communicate with that other than the original BMW head unit.
Other than the CD changer and the antenna amplifier, the wiring adapter that you can get from Crutchfield or from Amazon will make the stereo head unit replacement plug-and-play.
You may need a special five-sided wrench to get the old stereo out. You can buy that wrench on line if you can't force some other tool into those two cap screws that hold the stereo in.

Have 2002 rodeo lse...what is brand of stereo? Want to purchase new factory stereo...bought one previously, that looked like installed one, but did not work because of tuner or amp issue.

There were probably different stereo unit options available but the particular stock stereo in my 2002 Rodeo was a "Clarion" Model No. P1-9993M (cassette player). I've since upgraded to a better aftermarket head unit so you are welcome to my old one if willing to pay shipping (ha,ha).

I have an 02 ford explorer, the previous owner had a custom sound system installed. He took allof trhe custom speakers and amps out but left the stereo in,but it does'nt play. the stereo work ands powers...

sounds the like the vehicle had an oem amplifier that was removed, most after market stereo installers will trace the speakers wires individually by continuity to by pass the factory amplifier and wire the new head unit to the vehicles speakers, if the harness has been spliced or factory amp removed, you will need to check if the amplifier still exists (usually under passenger rear seat sometimes located in trunk area) and see if the harness has been bypassed. if so you will have to reconnect the harness by color code in order to use the factory head unit

Remote wire for amplifier

If it is not a factory stereo, it would be the blue wire, you can also connect amp wire straight up to red which is also the ign. wire for the radio. That way the amp will turn on with key also.

If you have a factory stereo, you can go to www.installer.com and get a free complete wiring diagram
