Yes, the muffler should be upstream of the resonator. In other words, from the engine, you have the catalytic converter, then the muffler, then the resonator is last, near the tail pipe. Possibly they installed the wrong muffler or resonator. The muffler will have the most effect on the sound you hear.

Last time. I have Ford focus 2003 sedan dohc 2L. I lost a part from exhaust system. from back to front I see 1. tail pipe 2. rectangular box shaped part? Lunch Box? 3. missing part Muffler?

Starting from the front, coming off the exhaust manifold should have, 1. Exhaust pipe, 2. Catalytic converter, 3. Exhaust pipe, 4. Resonator, 5. Tail pipe. Also, there should be an Oxygen sensor somewhere around the catalytic converter.

How do i fix brakes on a 2000 chrysler town and country van?

Visit Midas. or purchase/ borrow the service manual for the vehicle and teach yourself how to replace brake components and test system after completing replacement of pad or shoes. If you have done it before then the method is the same.

When the I turn on the van, It starts to smell like gas and exhaust. Also while smoke is coming out of the muffler.

white smoke signifies water so its a head gasket without a doubt so you have two choices either trade it in quick or have it repaired but you could ask a local mechanic to give it a quick look in case the white smoke is blue in which case its oil

Is it important what size muffler and resonator, is replaced on a 2001 chrysler town and country V-6 engine? Sadly, I took my van to have a new muffler put on it. When the mechanic, called he also said...

Possible results are , increased fuel use, reduction in power and you may fail noise emissions (too much noise), some after market exhaust systems are designed to give improvements but these are general much more costly than standard fittings. I would not be happy myself and would want it put right, Not sure which country you are in so can't advise on trading standards, but in uk items must be fit for purpose or you get your money back.

I am trying to find where the co2 sensor is on my 2001 town&country van

Find the exhaust pipe under the rear bumper. Follow its progress towards the front of the car. The first big bulbous thing you will find is the muffler, keep going. The next bulbous thing you may find is a resonator, keep going. Eventually you will come to a little thingy screwed into the side of the exhaust pipe which has some wires coming from it. That is your downstream O2 sensor. Next will be the catalytic converter, next thing will be the upstream O2 sensor, then the exhaust manifold, the the head of the engine.

Cant find o2 sensor looking for upstream bank 1 any one want to help?

It should be located near the outlet in the rear exhaust manifold, ahead of the converter. The downstream sensor 2 is the one located behind the converter or sometimes in the rear of the converter body.
