Valve push rod witch one is intake long one or short

Intake push rods and exhaust push rods are different lengths. You have them mixed up. I believe the exhaust are longer. You will know. If there is too much space, that is the short rod.

You are thinking too hard.

It is VERY simple. The Intake valve push rods (marked with ORANGE paint) are shorter than the exhaust valve push rods (marked with BLUE paint) If you cannot see the paint, you can always stand them up next to each other...it is pretty obvious which ones are which.

BOTH heads are EXACTLY the same - they are interchangeable. It is just that one is turned one way and the other is turned the other way so the exhaust and intake ports will be on the correct sides. (intake port towards the center of engine, exhaust port to the outboard sides of the engine.) You do not need to go searching the internet for some "order". All you have to do is LOOK AT THE HEAD to tell which valve is intake and which valve is exhaust.

So then it is as simple as: Put the short push rods on the intake and the long push rods on the exhaust....

If you are trying to put the rods back in and got them messed up, then , Standing on the passenger side of the car, the left side of the engine is long,short, long,short, short, long front to back. the right side is long , short, short, long ,short, long Front to back. Hope this helps.

stand all rods up on a table top, there should be 6 short and 6 long, the short rods go to the intake valves and the long rods go to the exhaust valves.not sure which is the intake and exhaust then with the intake off look into the intake holes if you can see the valve in there then that is the intake valve.

The valves that are furthest from the intake, on the outside perimeter of the head, closest to the spark plugs are small diameter valves. These valves use the short rods. The valves that are [non-uniformly] on the interior of the head use the large diameter valves. These valves use the long push rods. This is not due to the diameter, but do to the proximity of the valve on the head with respect to the rod length required to push it. So, looking at a picture of the "front head," closest to the front of the car, from underneath will verify that diameters are small - large - large - small - large - small. Inspecting from above you should note the order of valves as outside - interior - interior - outside - interior - outside. And if you invert that same head to the "rear head" configuration (180o) it would become small - large - small - large - large - small (outside - interior - outside - interior - interior - outside).



The answer is this:
The rear head (2-4-6) will have push-rods in the following configuration:
short - long - short - long - long - short

The front head (1-3-5) will have push-rods in the following configuration:
short - long - long - short - long - short

OK, here is all u need to do, the long push rods are for the exhaust valves, the short ones are for the intake valves, which paticuliar cylinder they came from is not important.

Long push rods are for exhaust valves. Short are intake.

Did you put the push rods back in same as they came out? On some they have short and long, like short for intake and long for exhaust, or visa versa. Thats what it sounds like to me, you got the push rods in the wrong spots.

Ok... get you sigth to the level of each valve put the puh rod and has to be the same heigh also when you tigth the roker arm one a this is short you feel has to much play.than normal.. so that place is for a long one.when yoou have all this done check one by one tomake sure that no loss o to much play. before you put the intake manifold
