THIS MORNING WHEN I STARTED MY 98 DEVILLE, THE IDLE WAS SUPER HIGH...LIKE IN THE 2000-2350 RANGE! WHEN I CHECKED THE CODE IT READ P0122. IF I REPLACE THE TPS SENSOR WILL THIS CORRECT THE PROBLEM OR IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE TO IT?

Check the wiring to the throttle body, check the supply voltages as well. Check fuses too, it sounds like it received a voltage spike and then lost voltage and is now forcing limited rpm.
Code 122 is for a low signal from the TPS, and code 405 is for a low signal from the EGR position sensor. The computer sends a 9 volt signal to most of the sensors and the return signal tells the computer what is happening. For example, if most of the 9 volt signal comes back from the TPS the computer knows the throttle is closed. I would check the two circuits to see if the reference voltage is there. If it is not, it could be a problem in the harness, or inside the computer.

I had a problem with starts on my 98 sc2, did it twice only, but it would start up, shake a bit then shut down like it wasn't getting fuel, or a wrong mixture. Replaced the coolant temperature sensor and starts / idles like new now... goodluck
yes, this is the case of a failed throttle body, in which case it needs replaced, the car is getting too much fuel causing the high idle. this needs replaced asap. you could proably find a small independant honda shop that could do the work for less.
The system has to be reset by the Dealer. The computer is still reading a hard code stored. or There could be a mass air flow sensor out of range. The dealer or a local shop with the correct type of equipment should be able to check the Air Flow sensor and the Computer.
