Sounds like your canister vent valve is blocked or the charcoal canister is flooded with fuel. if you drive alot of dirt roads you can clog this vent valve causing backpressure in the tank. you may have to go to a reputable service shop so they can test the evaporative emissions system and get an accurate diagnosis.

Check fuel cap light went on today. how do i fix it?

If you refueled your vehicle with the engine running, this is what caused the light to come on. Otherwise, your fuel cap may not be on correctly. Check your fuel cap and make sure it is installed correctly. Be sure that it "Clicks" when you tighten it. Then drive the car for a couple days and the light should go out on its own. If it does not go off in 2 or 3 days, then you need to have your evaporative emissions (fuel tank) system checked for leaks.

1999 grand voyager le how do i replace fuel filter

Hello,

To replace the fuel filter of Your 1999 grand voyager, please follow the steps below, You will be in need of these instruments, Line wrench set, 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set, Replacement fuel filter kit.
  1. Park the 1999 Grand Voyager in a ventilated area and engage the emergency brake,
  2. Walk to the back of the 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager and completely unscrew the gas cap from the fill neck on the gas tank. Taking the cap off will remove the pressure in the fuel filter.
  3. Jack the back of the 1999 Grand Voyager up and put the jack stands under the rear jack points. Slowly release the jack so that the van is sitting evenly and securely on the jack stands.
  4. Slide under the passenger-side rear of the van behind the tire. Locate the fuel filter that is mounted to the upper part of the gas tank. This type of fuel filter has three fuel lines coming out of it.
  5. Position the drip pan under the gas tank in the general vicinity of the fuel filter. Using a clean rag, compress the fuel lines on the ends. The fuel lines are held to the fuel filter by a plastic clip. Compressing the end of the fuel line will unlock the fuel line from the clip. Pull out on the fuel lines. Do this to all three of the fuel lines.
  6. Remove the bolt from the fuel filter bracket with the 3/8-inch drive ratchet and a 3/8-inch drive socket. Then, pull the fuel filter out of the bracket and put it into the drip pan.
  7. Position the new fuel filter into the bracket. Screw the mounting bolt in and tighten it down tight with the ratchet and socket.
  8. Push all three fuel lines onto the appropriate fuel filter ports. Hook the fuel lines to the same fuel filter ports that they were hooked to on the old filter.
  9. Pull the drip pan out from under the van. Screw the gas cap back onto the fill neck of the gas tank until it clicks. Then, turn the ignition key on and off five different times. Crank the engine on the fifth turn of the ignition. Inspect the new fuel filter for leaks while the engine is running. Then, turn the engine off.
  10. 1999 Grand Voyager back up and pull the jack stands out from under the van. Lower the van back to the ground and slide the jack out.
Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

There is a light in the dashboard that says "check" with the shape of a little water tap. I don't know what it means.

With the engine cool, Check coolant level, or may be overheating. If coolant is low or severely low, fill it, keep cap off and start engine, allow it to run and continue to add antifreeze until level of coolant stops going down and replace cap. Fill the expansion (overfill) tank to the full cold level. Allow engine to reach operating temperature while observing the engine, radiator, and hoses for leak and look under car for drips. Also check for wet carpet inside at the front, usually on the passenger side (not sure exactly where heater core is in your Kia), so also check the drivers side. This will indicate a defective heater core, if the leak is bad. If the leak is only minor in a heater core you will notice a sweet smell inside and/or windows will steam up when you run the defrost. Also, if coolant is low check radiator cap, If you don't have to push down with slight-medium force to turn and remove it, it may be leaking there.
Hope this helps.

Heater takes to long to get hot and water is dripping form dashboaerd on passenger side i have a 2000 grand jeep cherokee

Sounds like one of two things are happening. Either the hose going to the heater core (on the engine side of the dash) is leaking causing coolant to spray into the passenger compartment or your heater core is leaking which is causing the dripping from the passenger side of the dash. This would also cause a loss of coolant in the engine which would cause the engine to overheat and not enough coolant to get to the heater core to supply heat to the passenger compartment. Check your coolant level (while engine is cold) and refill it with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water after you tighten the leaking hose or replace the heater core. Then start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature. Again let it cool down and then top off the radiator with the 50/50 mix of coolant. Do not under any circumstances open the radiator cap while the engine is hot.

Check engine light/ dash message "tighten gas cap"

I can't tell you where yours is but I can tell you how to find it. It's a plastic (sometimes metal) cylinder about the size of a normal coffee can. it has a flat vacuum fitting on the top with usually three or four hoses going to it. Normally it is located low against one of the fenders and can usually be seen easier than you can reach it with your hand. on the bottom you will see a cloth filter. If you can find something like that, you have found it.
I would also check the lines and hoses going to the fuel tank. Any leak in the vapor recovery system will show up as a cap leak which is only a part of the system. (just did one on a Pontiac GA with a similar problem)
