I recently had problems with my 2005 Mazda MPV stalling. I came to this great site and changed the IAC and it stopped stalling. But 2 days later my check engine light came on. The codes are P2197 P2195 P2187 P0102. It is running rough especially when at stop lights. PLEASE HELP!!!

check for a leaking hose at the pcv. some older models had a problem with a cracked elbow at the PCV valve. Any other vacuum leak would cause similar problems.

The descriptions for your codes are:
P2197 - H02S (RF) signal stuck lean
P2195 - H02S (RF) signal stuck lean
P2187 - Fuel System too lean at idle
P0102 - MAF circuit low input

Essentially what's happening is that your MPV is running too lean when at idle. Too much air and not enough fuel. As you speed up - it forces more air into the system which alleviates the problem.

Examine your mass airflow sensor. It should be completely clean - no fuzzies on it at all. If so - purchase some mass airflow sensor cleaner to clean the sensor. ONLY USE THE PROPER CLEANER TO AVOID DAMAGING THE SENSOR. Disconnect the battery to reset the system and turn off check engine light.

Otherwise you will need a scan tool to look at the voltages being supplied to/from the PCM for each of the Heated Oxygen Sensors and the Mass Airflow Sensor to determine which part is creating the problem.

Why does my mpv shut off when I put it in drive

You may have a defective IAC valve. my 2000 Mazda MPV was having the same problem last time, but when i changed my IAC, it does not shut off anymore.

Why does my mazda mpv stall when ac is on but it runs fine when the ac is dissconnected

Make sure that your drive belt and ac belts are tight. A loose belt will look like many problems. Also could be your ac compressor. They have ac compressor lubrication in a can just like the freon. You can notice the extra strain the ac puts on the engine when you turn it on and especially at idle. So 1. Make sure belts are tight and in good condition, if not replace. 2. Check freon level in ac. If freon level is okay add ac oil conditioner.

2004 mazda mpv shaking??

Have you cleaned the throttle body bore and plate of any black carbon ? The idle air control circuit may be clogged or the IAC may be stuck closed .

My 2001 Mazda MPV is stalling and has a rough Idle. While driving the van the vehicle stop runing, After letting the vehicle sit for a while, the vehicle will start. This has happened a couple times over...

Sounds like a Fuel problem? Make sure that fuel line pressure is within specification according specs.
Fuel Line Pressure 0.38-0.42 mpa (55-61 psi)
Fuel hold pressure 0.176 mpa (25.5 psi)

Mazda tribute 2002 stalling

1. will it stay running if you foot is sligtly on the gas.
if so common problem it the IAC valve located on top of the throttle body. it controls ait into the engine when throttle is closed.
2. do you hear loud fog horn like sound or hissing. this could indicate a vaccum leak.
3. are there any performance problems while driving.

my best guess would be the IAC (idle air control) valve

Mazda mpv engine idle problem

I had the same problem with my 2002 MPV. I ended up removing the IAC Idle are-control myself, and cleaning it really well (with some air intake cleaner). Put it back together, and it's been running great for the past year.

Not too difficult of a project, I'm no mechanic, but if your good with tools, it's not to bad.
